I absolutely love crab rangoon; I order Chinese take out a few times a month just so I can have them and I can never get enough of them. So imagine my shock and utter delight when I found this great recipe telling me how I can make them from home! It is a great feeling to know that I can now have crab rangoon whenever I want, for a fraction of the price I pay for them at the Chinese restaurant, and I can make as many as I can eat!
You will need:
1 package wonton wrappers (sometimes found in the frozen food aisle)
2 packages cream cheese
20 pieces green onion tops
1 dash garlic
1 pinch sugar
2 medium eggs
1 cup milk
1 can crab meat
1. Heat cream cheese in microwave for 30 secs to make soft. When this is out add 1/2 can of crab meat (add to taste).
2. Finely chop green onion tops and add. Add a dash of garlic and 1 teaspoon of sugar. In a separate bowl mix egg and milk and add.
3. Heat grease for deep frying. Spoon mixture in the middle of each wonton wrapper and fold over to close. Put in the deep fryer; when the edges start browning turn over. Place on a paper towel to drain. Eat with condiments of choice.
Sonia Sotomayor was originally nominated to federal court by George Herbert Bush; a fact that Obama mentioned in his speech to nominate Sotomayor for the US Supreme Court and a fact that the entire GOP and its supporters have conveniently ignored for the sake of having something else to bitch and complain about.
The Guardian’s Scott Lemieux has put together an article on Sotomayor’s qualifications for the job she has been nominated for and has discovered that Sotomayor’s qualifications mirror those of current Justice Samuel Alito; a man who the GOP has fawned over and that John McCain wholeheartedly supports and name-dropped all over the place during the last presidential election. But given the fact that Sotomayor is obviously qualified and possesses the same qualifications of a man supported at large by the GOP, they aren’t going to let her confirmation go without a fight… And the only reason why several smear campaigns have already started against her is because she is not a white, privileged male.
Did you know that all Latina women are named Maria? Well according to Mike Huckabee, the nomination of Maria Sotomayor “will likely leave us with something akin to the “Extreme Court” that could mark a major shift” because she is so “far left.”
The appointment of Maria Sotomayor for the Supreme Court is the clearest indication yet that President Obama’s campaign promises to be a centrist and think in a bipartisan way were mere rhetoric. Sotomayor comes from the far left and will likely leave us with something akin to the “Extreme Court” that could mark a major shift. The notion that appellate court decisions are to be interpreted by the “feelings” of the judge is a direct affront of the basic premise of our judicial system that is supposed to apply the law without personal emotion. If she is confirmed, then we need to take the blindfold off Lady Justice.—
I’m sure Maria Sotomayor will be displeased to learn that Mike Huckabee is not a fan of her, but I wonder how he feels about Sonia Sotomayor… And um, Lady Justice!? I don’t think so. Does the GOP refer to Justice Alito as Mr. Justice Alito? No, I don’t think they do.
So apparently Gingrich believes that an out of context remark made during a speech on race and sex discrimination cases that appeared in print in the Berkeley La Raza Law Journal in 2002 is proof that Sotomayor is a racist… Because no one knows what it’s like to be a woman of color more than a white male, right?
Karl Rove jumped on board calling Sotomayor an “intellectual lightweight,” obviously encouraged by Jeffrey Rosen’s New Republic article which allowed unnamed sources to attack Sotomayor as “not that smart” and lacking “penetrating” questions on the bench.
Because nothing shows someone’s lack of intellect than graduating summa cum laude from Princeton University as well as attending Yale Law School and holding the job of editor of the Yale Law Journal.
The attacks against Sonia Sotomayor are in bad taste and fueled by nothing less than racism and sexism… Pot calling the kettle black, anyone?

This is a guest post by Bill Hardekopf, CEO of LowCards.com.
College students will be one of the groups most affected by the new credit card law. Currently, credit card offers are easy to find on any campus and available to almost every student. In nine months, it will be much more difficult for college students to get a credit card because restrictions will prohibit issuers from lending to anyone under 21 unless they can prove they can make the payments or get a parent or guardian to co-sign.
But will this restriction placed on issuers alleviate the credit card problems for these young adults?
“Absolutely not. It will help but it may be just delaying the problem. The responsibility to change this really falls on us, the parents,” says Bill Hardekopf, CEO of LowCards.com and author of The Credit Card Guidebook. “We have failed to teach our children the proper way to handle money and the pitfalls of debt. We need to take time to tell them all about credit cards, talk them through your credit card bill. Explain the interest rate, minimum payment, grace period, and the painful finance charges. If you have had late fees or payment problems, use these as teaching examples.”
There is a serious credit card debt and usage problem among college students. A recent Sallie Mae survey showed:
Average amount of debt carried by college cardholders is $3,173. This represents a 46% increase over the 2004 figure of $2,169.
73% of all families now carry a credit card (Federal Reserve Survey of Consumer Finances). That number is actually much higher among college students: 84% have at least one credit card. The average student has 4.6 credit cards.
Seniors graduated with average credit card debt of more than $4,700, up from $2,900 in 2004.
“If you graduate with a $4,700 credit card balance, you not only have a big debt to pay, but you will likely have a lower credit score that could be very difficult to pull up. That low score may affect interest rates for any loan you have, and may even affect job offers if credit scores are part of the interview process,” says Hardekopf.
LowCards.com recommends a new ‘Charge Responsibly’ program be instituted by credit card issuers.
“Credit card issuers need to do something to show that they care about the financial well-being of their cardholders. This could be a good opportunity for credit card issuers to re-create their image with a ‘charge responsibly’ type of program that teaches college students and their parents how to responsibly use credit cards,” says Hardekopf.
In the Sallie Mae survey, eighty-four percent of undergraduates indicated they needed more education on financial management topics. One-third of the students rarely discussed credit cards with parents.
“Credit card issuers can take the lead to educate consumers about the responsible use of credit cards. Credit card regulations and the issuer’s changes that could follow will probably force all of us to charge responsibly.”

I have just recently started doing yoga; something I have been interested in starting for years. I had put off starting yoga for so long due to a myriad of reasons, the biggest of my worries being that I was so out of shape that I wouldn’t be able to do it. Last February, for Valentine’s Day, my boyfriend presented me with a pink yoga mat and two beginners DVDs, knowing how interested I had been in starting to do yoga. I began immediately and after making it through my two DVDs enough times, I started to crave more of a variety.
Because living frugally is key in many households, buying a new workout DVD is slotted as a splurge and not something that someone will purchase under most circumstances. That is why I was so excited to come across Yoga Today, a website that is featuring a new yoga class every single day. Every morning when you wake up, there will be a new class posted by yoga experts to help you step by step through the workout of the day, seven days a week, plus you can watch past classes if you miss a day or are just starting. Best of all, all of the classes on Yoga Today are free!
As much as I love shopping for clothes, I find myself helping my male counterpart shop for clothes much more often than for myself. The reason for this is because I can pretty much find any article of clothing I’m looking for in my size at a variety of different stores, but run into quite a bit of trouble looking for pants that will fit my boyfriend perfectly or dress shirts that don’t make him look like his chest is going to tear the shirt wide open if he breathes a little too heavily. Big and tall men have a hard time finding clothes because like women, men come in a variety of different sizes and shapes, yet not too many stores and retailers will cater to the many shapes and sizes of men.
If you’ve had similar experiences when trying to find perfectly-fitting clothes for your men built like football players, the easiest and stress-free route to take is to shop at stores exclusively catering to Big and Tall Clothing. These types of retailers will most definitely be your saving grace when shopping for clothes because they truly understand and embrace the fact that not all men can fit into the clothes that are sold at major retailers. Whether you’re looking for Big and Tall shirts or Big and Tall pants in a variety of different fashions, styles, and cuts, by shopping Big and Tall outlets, you will be able to find exactly what you’re looking for in a size that fits perfectly.
Every woman has, at one point, found herself exasperated and frustrated, standing in the cosmetics aisle reading the backs of products, comparing products, and of course, the price tag. Even if you have been buying the same beauty products by the same company, supplies run out very often and with the hectic schedules women keep every day, the situation where you find yourself stepping out of the shower in the morning, going to reach for your face cleanser and suddenly, you find that you’re out. And there you are, wishing you had noticed your supplies were running out.
Few women know that you can make all natural beauty products at home and for a lot less than you pay for your regular products. Here are some of the easiest products to make–You won’t know how you’ve managed without them.

I recently came across a very odd sex toy over at early2bed–Chocolate party hats… for your penis. Yes, that’s right.
Chocolate Party Hats are definitely something out of the ordinary and honestly, not something I think I’d ever be interested in trying. Sure, I love me some chocolate and while edible potions for fellatio can be fun, like Good Head Gel that we recently reviewed, the idea of basically treating a cock like the stick of a lollipop is not so fun to me. Can you imagine just lounging around in between your man’s legs enjoying some chocolate and then you leave your penis all sticky and unpleasant.
I could be wrong, I haven’t tried these out so if anyone else has and wants to submit their input, put it in the comments, but I tend to like to keep my chocolate lollipops and my penis separate.
Sotomayor would become the second woman on the court, only the third female justice in the history of the Supreme Court, and the first Hispanic justice to serve on the Supreme Court.
She is obviously qualified for the job, having graduated from Princeton University summa cum laude, she attended Yale Law School, where she was an editor of the Yale Law Journal. She spent five years as a prosecutor with the Manhattan district attorney’s office before entering a private practice. She currently serves as an appeals judge for the US Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit, covering New York, Vermont, and Connecticut.
Even with all of her extensive experience and qualifications for the job, conservatives have already started showing us how rocky the road to her confirmation will be, calling her a “judicial activist”
Conservatives argue Sotomayor has a “hard-left record” and believes that judges should consider experiences of women and minorities in their decision-making.
Here is President Obama’s introduction of Sonia Sotomayor:
And here is her speech:
This is great news for both gender and race equality; let’s just hope that the road to her confirmation doesn’t get too ugly.
Linda Fleming, a 66 year old woman with terminal cancer has become the first person to die with dignity under Washington state’s new assisted suicide law, Death with Dignity, which took effect in March. Fleming died at home with her family, her dog, and her physician at her bedside after taking a lethal dose of prescribed drugs.
The new law was approved last November with nearly 60% of the vote in favor of passing the assisted suicide law. Under the law, in order to end your life you must be at least 18 years of age, declared competent, and be a state resident. Two doctors would have to certify if the patient has a terminal condition and six months or less to live. The patient must make two oral requests for the procedure, 15 days apart, and make a written request witnessed by two people.
For physicians and pharmacists who are opposed to the law, they are not required to write or fill lethal prescriptions and even some hospitals have opted out of the law, which precludes their doctors from participating on hospital property.
Assisted suicide has been a controversial topic for many generations, but it is great to see a state that is giving its citizens a way to have control over their own fates; someone who has less than six months to live and who is suffering astronomical amounts of pain due to their illness, I believe, has every right to die in a manner that they see fit. We see a great deal of cases where patients are in too much pain than they can handle and who want to die; the least we can do is give them a compassionate and dignified way out.
What do you think? Do you want to see other states introduce assisted suicide laws?
