Bank of America to Add $5 Monthly Debit Card Fee

Bank of America has joined a growing list of banks that charge consumers a monthly debit card fee.

Starting early next year, Bank of America will charge $5 in each month that customers use a debit card for a transaction. There will not be a charge in the months you don’t use your debit card, and ATM withdrawals are not included.

Word of this new fee came two days before the October 1 implementation of the new interchange fee regulations for debit card purchases. Banks are expected to lose billions of dollars with this reduction in swipe fees. Before the recent legislation, the interchange fee averaged 44 cents per transaction. Now, the reduced fee will be 21 cents plus an additional amount to cover losses from fraud.

I have not watched an episode of Saturday Night Live in years; not since Tina Fey portrayed Sarah Palin, which I still find totally hilarious. However, this week’s episode will be hosted by Melissa McCarthy and that is pretty much all the reason I need to tune in.

I’m actually pretty surprised and kind of sad that Melissa McCarthy hasn’t hosted an episode of SNL yet. She gained a lot of attention and acknowledgement through Bridesmaids and that would have been a great time to have her on the show. I guess she just had to prove her comedic worth to SNL by winning an Emmy.

Yesterday we talked about the new at-home teeth whitening product Crest 3D White 2 Hour Express Whitestrips that promise a whiter, brighter smile in just two hours. So, do they actually work? Take a look at the picture above to see my partner’s smile before using the new whitestrips and after.

As you can tell from the picture, there is a subtle difference in his smile after using the new whitestrips. For the most part, the changes are subtle; the areas of mild yellowing he had going on near his gums have been lightened, but is still there nonetheless. The most drastic change is in his front teeth, which I expected regardless of the fact that the whitestrips do reach to the side teeth.
