Anti-Aging Miracle: No More Needles or Doctors

facial yoga For many people who are worried about aging, wrinkles or laugh lines, Botox and plastic surgery have been quick and easy fixes for most on the path to looking their best. But now, for those who are petrified of needles (such as myself–it’s a phobia,) don’t like doctors or don’t like the idea of plastic surgery, yoga enthusiasts are now swearing by a new way to not only look younger, but to fee younger and better about your appearance.

Facial yoga has been deemed the “natural Botox” and is being used by many yoga enthusiasts as a daily exercise. By making theatrical expressions and stretching and training your face in your daily exercise routine, in your spare time or while doing household tasks, within as little as a few session you can start to see not only the lines on your forehead and under your eyes fading, but you can also see the stress that most people carry in their faces cease.

Annelise Hagen, author of The Yoga Face: Eliminate Wrinkles with the Ultimate Natural Facelift, conducts weekly facial yoga classes and developed her own facial yoga techniques that she teaches to her clients.

Hagen’s facial exercises include the Smiling Fish (purse your lips and smile slightly), the Marilyn (blow kisses while keeping your forehead smooth) and the Satchmo (puff out your face and transfer air from cheek to cheek).

Not only can yoga make you look and feel better about yourself and your appearance, it has also been used to train injured faces to move again after an injury or stroke and is also said to help sharpen your mind. Above all, it can help bring out that inner child in you that doesn’t get to come out and play very often. Making theatrical and hilarious faces in the mirror can do wonders for your spirit.

facial exercises are a great way to keep your face looking young. More people should do them!

  • neil strauss says:

All these celebrities doing botox is not good. If only they did some facial yoga, they could save some money as well as accidental errors.

  • Wow, facial yoga?? Geez. I’m behind…I was about to start regular yoga.

  • HappyCamper says:

Yeah, where have I been?!! THis sounds amazing and I am eager to start. However, I may feel more comfortable practicing facial yoga in the privacy of my own home!

  • I have heard about this new innovative surgery-less way to reduce aging and wrinkles. It’s hard to believe that stretching and training your face could actually reduce aging, but I do know that Face-yoga is rapidly gaining in popularity. All I can say is that it definitely couldn’t hurt to try it and if it means avoiding surgery or Botox, that’s certainly a good thing!

  • Actually this is much better than botox for obvious reasons!

  • I’m skeptic, but I would be surprised if it helps. I mean natural working out of the body is good for your skin, so I guess working out your face must be also good for your skin.

  • Very interesting, facial yoga. I love regular yoga with all the benefits, strength, and relaxation it gives me, but I’ve never heard of Facial Yoga till now. I’ll look into it more. Thanks for sharing. :)

  • Arm Kandi says:

I have heard that exercising the face in an incorrect way does more harm than good and I would be concerned that I wasn’t performing the exercises correctly.

The BEST things for lines and wrinkles (and for all the other facial nasties associated with aging) that I have found are the new gadgets which are available. Most noteably the NUFACE and the BABY QUASAR. The NUFACE works on the underlying muscle structure/muscle tone of the face whilst the BABY QUASAR speeds up the production of collagen. The 2 incorporated as part of a regular beauty rountine make for a DYNAMITE combo!! I noticed results within the first WEEK (I’m 46 and have had bad skin since my teens!)

  • This is an excellent book and the techniques really do work! Definitely required reading for any woman who wants a little lift/toning without getting work done.

  • Hm, I’m quite skeptical about facial exercises. Most dermatologists agree that by moving your face so much you will only create more wrinkles. Although it can indeed decrease sagginess. Just be careful that you don’t do anything that causes strain on the existing wrinkles or lines. Will check out the book though!

  • PC Speed Up says:

My wife is a firm believer in facial exercises. Not that I am biased, but I can see an improvement in the 8 months or so she has been doing it. :)

  • Josefin says:

I would much rather this over something like botox.

  • Ralf says:

I like Botox, but I will try this technique

  • Yoga Toes says:

I was on the swim team in high school and our coach had us perform visualization exercises before meets. This included ‘facial stretches’ which I see is now so fashionably known as ‘facial yoga.’ Who knew?

  • My wife had similar problems. Botox helped her and the result was fantastic.

  • i always thought moving your face would cause wrinkles, but i guess if you are firming up the muscles underneath the skin that support it then you will end up preventing wrinkles.worth a go!

  • Generally moving your face does cause wrinkles. Can help with sagging though. Some people use Frownies or (the cheaper version) Scotch Tape just to prevent themselves from frowning and thereby prevent wrinkles.

  • LifeCell says:

I might give facial yoga a try sometime. However, it does not sound like a replacement for a good anti-aging product but rather could be beneficial if used together.

  • Aging says:

I’d rather see some one do facial yoga than buy a pile of beauty products. Aging is not about being beautiful people.

  • I agree with LifeCell that facial yoga may be more beneficial in conjunction with topical skin care products…attack aging skin from two fronts.

  • Hi There!

I’m Deb with FlexEffect. To learn more about Facialbuilding stop by my forum and talk to todays facialbuilders.

  • Wouldn’t facial exercises ‘increase’ the creases and stretch marks on your face?

  • I really don’t like loading my skin up with chemicals, lotions and potions, so this is becoming very appealing to me. Plus, the idea of injecting junk into my face with needles — not soo yummy either. :| I’ll probably be the next one to jump on this bandwagon. What’s the worst that can happen?

  • Donald says:

Moisture, moisture, moisture. My fiancee, she’s in her late 30′s, has been using one of the Clarins cream and she swears by it. However, she’s still considering botox. Oy!

  • I also heard that doing facial exercises would cause more wrinkles. But it does make sense that it would firm up some of the areas, but perhaps, stretch out the skin a bit in the process. What’s worse – the sagging or the lines?

  • Ohio Doctors says:

Coming from an actual doctor the comment above about facial excerciese in my professional experience rings very true to form.

  • The principle of yoga can be applied to any muscle groups – essentially stretching muscles invigorates them and makes them more supple, more relaxed / less tight. So naturally your face also becomes more relaxed, less tight, as you do facial exercises.

  • Katie says:

Facial exercise can help as an anti aging technique buts it’s not simple and one needs to practice it before seeing the results.

  • wow, that sounds interesting. I should abandon my regular yoga classes I think

  • I am just 20 years old. So I think I do not need to do facial exercise. But my mum has the problem.I will ask my mum to start facial yoga.

  • Nusba says:

On the “No More Needles or Doctors” I would add the “Galvanic Spa” as a great natural solution for wrinkles.

For those who don’t know what is “Galvanic Spa” – take a look on the following videos (from NBC and FOX news)

  • Anything that has the same or better effect without the use of chemicals is surely a good thing and worth trying before thinking about things like botox.

Yoga for anti aging is not a new thing, my wife has been doing this for years:

  • Tripeptinon says:

Hello everyone. All are worried about their health and fitness and are also worried about their future how they look. To resist the same look, facial is been the one which gives complete relaxation to face. Whereas many of the people apply yoga exercises in their daily routine. That keeps them fit and fine.yoga make you look and feel better about yourself and your appearance, it has also been used to train injured faces to move again after an injury. Hence Yoga should be applied to our day today life.

  • I have a terrible phobia of needles as well. That plus, I don’t really see the point of injecting paralytic bacteria into your face. These excercises sound really cool I hope it works well too.

  • Kerry says:

I agree with the previous comment regarding botox helping. I had somewhat of the same issue and I had botox injections, and I gotta tell you it’s one of the best treats I’ve ever given myself.

I have not tried the yoga face exercises, however I would like to give it a try because it’s actually working your facial muscles, which can only be a good thing

    .
    regards,

    Kerry

  • In my own opinion, no matter what anti-aging stuff you’re going to apply in your skin, later on you will still getting old and will have the wrinkles in your face. But you can do can do something not that to happen earlier. As far as I know, it is good if you will have to do it in a natural way! Nice post though, it’s interesting! Keep sharing!!!

  • miles says:

Hi, miles here. I am so glad to hear about this technique. I have spent so much on anti-aging creams for my wife that I will have no trouble telling her about this. She already totally loves yoga, I am surprised one of her friends hadn’t said something yet. Thanks for the tip.

  • Brenda Ricci says:

Facial exercises are fine, as is most forms of exercise, when performed correctly; it is not commonly known, though, that human growth hormone supplements can work wonders in keeping your skin wrinkle-free. They are made from natural ingredients and you can buy them at health shops.

  • Sometimes avoiding chemicals is the best option to enjoy a wrinkle-free face. Botox and the like isn’t the best available option, although it is considered a risk free injection!

  • people who are worried about aging, wrinkles or laugh lines, Botox and plastic surgery have been quick and easy fixes for most on the path to looking their best.
