And I would suggest they’re a crucial part of any office. Call me old-fashioned but I much prefer waiting in reception rather than standing, like a bit of an idiot, in the middle of an open plan office, trying to elicit a response from the people in there who obviously have better things to do than tend to a journalist. You don't really realize just how much reciptionists have to juggle. They don't just have one specific job or duty, they have many. It's more than just answer the phones, but that is an important part too. I forwarded this email to her so she can feel good about her career choice.
