Carrie Prejean: Completely Inappropriate and Unprofessional

So Carrie Prejean somehow got a book deal. I don’t know exactly how she accomplished this, perhaps she told Regnery Press that she would sue them if they didn’t agree to publish a memoir of more of her whining about fighting gossip that she put out in the world herself to be found and about hate and political attacks. I actually find it pretty hilarious that she had the audacity to insinuate that she is a woman who must fight against hate and play a victim while also being an instigator of hate herself. However, I digress; I mean come on people, on Amazon you can buy her book, Sarah Palin’s memoir and Michelle Malkin’s anti-Obama book all in one nice little package. That is the caliber of person we’re talking about here so really, we can’t all be surprised, can we?
However, what did surprise me quite a bit was her stunt on Larry King Live. This woman has absolutely no respect for a reputable interviewer nor for the people who have been following her and her “story.” Lastly, she has absolutely no idea what professionalism is and what it entails to be a public figure, as she so obviously wishes she could be.
In an appearance on Larry King Live to pimp out her new book, Still Standing, The idea that conservative women have to face political attacks because of their conservatism is ridiculous and those who have been attacked for their belief system is probably because the conservative movement works to support the boy’s club, and only the boy’s club and for a woman to support that is a little hard to wrap your mind around.
I’m glad that Larry King did bring up the fact that “liberal bias” in the media really does not exist, since FOX News is still (somehow) considered a reputable news source and many conservative-backing media figures have indeed attacked Democrat and liberal political figures. Ms. Prejean’s assessment that conservative media does not or can not say discriminatory things about political figures Sonia Sotomayor and Hillary Clinton. In fact, the GOP had launched an entire campaign against Sotomayor, there have been racist cartoons and comments made against her. And well, I really don’t even have to point out the slew of attacks that were hurled in the direction of Hillary Clinton.
At about 4:35 Ms. Prejean has the audacity to talk to Larry King like he were a toddler, telling him that he was being inappropriate for asking why she decided to settle in court against the Miss USA pageant. He was not asking what she settled for, he asked why she decided to settle, which is not a matter of confidentiality between herself and the Miss USA pageant. That is not being inappropriate, that is asking a legitimate question. So Larry King goes to a commercial and look at this lovely little stunt the smug and absolutely out of her mind Carrie Prejean pulls:
What she did is completely unprofessional and disrespectful and to not take questions on Larry King Live is yet another red flag that she cannot hold her own and when you either fight to become a social figure or you just happen to land as one, you must know how to hold your own position against someone’s questions or comments. As for her anecdotes and her tangents, it’s the same things we heard on several other television programs she has appeared on throughout the past week. Her publicist really should have advised her to get a few more canned responses ready.

I think Carrie was headed in the right direction, but didn’t have the right professionalism to get her point across. I think she was just trying to show that she is a conservative but may have pushed too hard and thought everyone was attacking her (which now, they are). She had some guts to say what she did at the pageant, in front of who she did, but that is the past. Now did she deserve a book deal from the situation? Ehm.. probably not.

I have a coworker with whom I work very closely. I try to be friendly but it all seems to come out wrong. Technically he is my supervisor so I want to be friendly so that my life stays bearable.I\’ve stuck my foot in my mouth a couple times by making inappropriate jokes. So if I can\’t be humorous what other things can I do to show a friendly attitude without being unprofessional?
