I have a coworker with whom I work very closely. I try to be friendly but it all seems to come out wrong. Technically he is my supervisor so I want to be friendly so that my life stays bearable.I\’ve stuck my foot in my mouth a couple times by making inappropriate jokes. So if I can\’t be humorous what other things can I do to show a friendly attitude without being unprofessional?

I think Carrie was headed in the right direction, but didn’t have the right professionalism to get her point across. I think she was just trying to show that she is a conservative but may have pushed too hard and thought everyone was attacking her (which now, they are). She had some guts to say what she did at the pageant, in front of who she did, but that is the past. Now did she deserve a book deal from the situation? Ehm.. probably not.
