Have you checked out Project You yet? If not, let me tell you a little bit about it.

Project You is a new(ish) magazine for, you guessed it, you! You, the women of the world, the mothers, the confidantes, chauffers, teachers, mentors, the people doing downright amazing things. It is the brainchild of Beth Feldman who also created Role Mommy, an online community and events company that was created to inspire, entertain and inform today’s busy moms. Role Mommy’s mission is to remind all moms out there that helping your children realize their hopes and dreams doesn’t mean you have to give up on your own.

Project You was officially launched just a few short months ago, with their first issue garnering over 157,000 views. The Holi-Daze issue is officially live and I wanted to take a moment to share it with you because really, it’s totally awesome.

The Project You Holi-Daze issue is full of reminders to be realistic about our New Year’s resolutions while sharing inspiring and bittersweet stories from amazing and talented writers. It is also full of useful holiday tips, recipes and gift suggestions, including some really informative suggestions on how to make memorable gifts at home and save money. This issue also features a story from one of my personally favorite bloggers, Julie Maloney of MomSpective. Julie lost over 100lbs with the help of Wii video games. Isn’t that amazing!?

Take a look at the entire Project You Holi-Daze issue below. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

Lindsay Lohan recently shot the cover (pictured to the left) and spread for German GQ‘s August 2010 issue with Ellen von Unwerth.

Now, this may come as a surprise to most of you, but I’m going to say it anyway, so brace yourselves. You ready? Okay.

I am in love with this entire video. I love the shoot, I think Lindsay looks gorgeous, I love the retro feel of the video and the music (which is The Guess Who’s “These Eyes” in case you were wondering) was an amazing choice.

Check out the video of the photo shoot to get a sneak peek of what’s in store for those who pick up the magazine.

My only criticism of this shoot is, as Jezebel pointed out already, Brigitte Bardot did the topless (or in Bardot’s case, naked) with-guitar scene much better, but Lindsay Lohan is already known for her imitation of other women, as seen in a previous Marilyn Monroe-inspired shoot.

Otherwise, this is gorgeous. I love it.

Britney Spears has graced the cover of the August 2010 issue of Cosmopolitan magazine due out next week. The consensus is that she looks amazing, which is what everyone has to say about the model, singer, actress and other random celebrities who have become famous for we don’t know what reason who is placed front and center on any magazine anymore. However, this cover is just bad and it’s bad for a few different reasons.

Firstly, has Britney Spears been out of the public’s cruel and judgmental eye long enough that she has decided to start dressing herself? Someone should have given this woman a shirt that didn’t look like it was plucked from five years ago when people were still deluded enough to think they were sexy outside of the bedroom, and even in the bedroom, they only kind of work when you’re playing a dominatrix for the night. I’m fairly certain that the person who chose this photo to be used for the cover of the magazine hates Britney Spears and wishes she had never made the comeback of the century and landed herself back into the good graces of her fans and their newly-approving parents. Her hair looks like it either hasn’t been washed in a few days or she just kept a blow dryer on it for a few hours straight. Foundation is also a pretty great thing to have handy when the bags under your eyes have formed their own bags. Believe me, I know what I am talking about here.

But aside from the horrendous outfit, the horrendous hair and lack of makeup, there is a pretty blatant Photoshop massacre going on and it’s happening right around Britney Spears’ neck. Perhaps Britney Spears did not choose those horrible clothes to pose in for this shoot. Perhaps she wore something appropriate and fitting for the cover of Cosmopolitan, but when the person in charge of Photoshopping the cover together got to it, they got confused and mistakenly attached Ms. Spears’ head to another, very poorly-dressed person, leaving us with a very stiff, box-like neck that makes Britney Spears look like a cardboard cutout that is ready to topple over.

Cosmo, I think it’s about time for another person who knows more than the basic essentials of Photoshop to take over.

After a severe decline in ad pages in print magazines as a whole, Condé Nast has been hit particularly hard, losing more than 8,000 ad pages as a whole. It is because of this that they announced Monday that they would be closing four of their magazines–Gourmet, Modern Bride, Elegant Bride and the most recent addition to the parenting magazine scene, Cookie.

While there was speculation that Condé Nast would close a food title, many thought the title that would be closing would be Bon Appétit since Gourmet has a longer and richer history, being published since January 1941 and the editor of the magazine, Ruth Reichl, is a powerful woman in the food world. In a February interview with publisher of Bon Appétit, Paul Jowdy, he stated that “if you think of two of the most prestigious, credible, trusted magazines in the industry, you’re going to say Bon Appétit and Gourmet.”

So if this kind of crisis could hit the most prestigious, credible and trusted magazines in the industries, what is to come of magazine publications in the future? This is definitely proof positive of the severity of the recession and hey, who can really afford to have a child or plan their fantasy wedding these days? Yeah, not too many people and the people who can have stylists and don’t necessarily need to scan magazines for ideas.

I used to be a big magazine junkie. I used to work at Borders Books & Music and would find myself constantly grabbing magazines, buying the ones that looked interesting through my extensive task of putting all the magazines people took off the racks and left wherever they felt like it at the end of the day and for the entire time I worked there, I just found more and more magazines that I had to read. The only problem with having so many magazines with so many fabulous articles that I just had to read was that I wound up with a stack of magazines and any time that I had thought back to the articles that I wanted to re-read or needed for research for an article, I had to sift through several different issues of several magazines. Another problem I had continuously ran into was the fact that my stack of magazines were starting to fall apart after a while and in some cases, the articles I had been cherishing in those magazines, were also starting to fall apart.

Apparently quite a few other people were running into these same problems when it came to the magazines they love and because of the flimsiness of magazines and the impossible task of keeping them all cataloged and in good shape, Scanalog was born.

Scanalog is a magazine cataloging system that runs on your computer. The process is extremely simple and if you are a magazine lover, you are going to wonder what you did without it. The program is beautiful, first of all, its interface is self-explanatory and so easy that someone who knows very little about computers to begin with will be able to use it hassle-free. By simply scanning your magazine articles and cataloging them using the Scanalog program, you will have every magazine article that you had been saving whole magazines for at your fingertips. You will never find yourself searching through the stack of magazines that are taking over your book shelf or desk or having to say in the middle of a conversation “I remember reading an article about that in a magazine, but I can’t show it to you because I completely forget where I put that magazine.”

The system comes with 11 master categories as well as stickers for each category that you can use to organize your magazine articles before you scan them. Scanalog also supports retrieving your articles from your hard drive or digital camera. At the present moment, Scanalog covers a wide range of women’s interests such as parenting, home decoration, gardening and traveling, but since Scanalog has been so widely accepted, they are currently working on other systems tailor made for those with different interests.

Scanalog is not only a lifesaver when it comes to all the magazines you may have laying around, but it’s a fun project finding all the articles you have saved, scanning and cataloging them. It would also make a great gift for anyone you know who buys and saves magazines or other media sources.

To order your own Scanalog, visit the website or call 1-866-849-SCAN for more information.
