Anyone who watched “The Bachelor Pad” last night caught the big reveal of the “Dancing With the Stars” season 11 cast. The new line-up will be hitting the dance floor–and your television–on Monday, September 20th at 8 p.m. EST. The premiere event will take place over the course of two nights; after the cast’s first performances on the dance floor, the couple with the lowest combined judges’ scores and public votes will be sent home during the “Dancing with the Stars: The Results Show” on Tuesday, September 21st.
Last season, Nicole Scherzinger of The Pussycat Dolls fame took home the Mirror Ball trophy. Any bets on who will make it to the end this season?
The “Dancing With the Stars Season 11 Cast:
The Guys:
Michael Bolton
Rick Fox
David Hasselhoff
Kyle Massey
Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino
Kurt Warner
The Women:
Brandy
Margaret Cho
Jennifer Grey
Florence Henderson
Bristol Palin
Audrina Patridge
Bristol Palin is most definitely the talk of the upcoming season. Many were shocked when rumors started spilling out just a few days ago about Bristol becoming part of the cast and last night it was dutifully confirmed by the announcement of the upcoming cast. Sadly, after watching her interview with ABC News (below) I’m not too excited about seeing this “other side” of her that she wants people to see because she still does not seem to have a personality. Bristol Palin has always been very one-note to me; kind of catatonic-like, unable to muster up any inflection when she’s speaking and she’s just horrendously boring to me. I’m not hoping she makes it very far in the competition and I’m not drawn to watching this season of “Dancing With the Stars” because of her being cast.
The person who did pique my interest about this upcoming season was Margaret Cho. If I told you who I would never guess to appear on “Dancing With the Stars” that list would most definitely include Margaret Cho. Since I’m not a fan of the show in the least, I’m kind of disappointed about her agreeing to be on the show, but am happy that she gets the opportunity to appeal to more people, this time in the form of dance–and how awesome will she look in some of those ballroom dancing costumes? Being the very typical fangirl that I am, I did immediately check to see if Margaret Cho’s tour date for my city was still set, despite her run on the show just to make sure I would still have the chance to see her this October.
Who are you most excited to see hit the dance floor on this season of “Dancing With the Stars”?
The 2010 Primetime Emmy Awards aired last night. I usually love awards shows and always watch them, rooting for my favorites to take home an award or complain about how my favorites shows and movies were robbed. This is typically a time of indulgence and enjoyment for me, but I realized last night just how much weight the host of an awards show has on the entire show and Jimmy Fallon hosting the 2010 Emmys really turned me off last night.
I do not like Jimmy Fallon. I don’t think he’s funny and I’m actually surprised his career in comedy has done as well as it has. I do hope that Jimmy Fallon has hit his peak with hosting the Emmys and we don’t have to see too much more of him in the future because I can honestly say that if he is chosen to host another awards show anytime soon, that is an awards show I will not be watching.
While watching the 2010 Emmys last night, I was also chatting with a friend and co-blogger of mine who I run the media and entertainment blog Women’s Eye on Media with. We published our Emmys chat from last night, so be sure to check that out for a lot (and I mean a lot) of snarky conversation all about who won last night, who walked away with nothing and of course, a whole lot about our hatred for Jimmy Fallon.
And onto the winners and nominees from the 2010 Emmy Awards…

We’ve known for a little while now that CBS is planning a daytime talk show with Hollywood moms that is being developed and co-produced by Sara Gilbert and while ABC has the very popular The View, they also have a little something extra up their sleeves and it’s being planned by Barbara Walters.
ABC is currently developing another daytime talk show to take the place of Oprah when it goes off the air. The difference between this new talk show and the already-airing The View, which Walters is a part of, is that this show will be made up of a male panel and targeted towards a male audience.
The male-themed View will be using a new set of celebrity panelists, said to include former ‘Today’ host Bryant Gumbel, comedian Alec Mapa, former BET news anchor Jacque Reid and former Fox News personality E.D. Hill.
This concept could potentially go over well, considering the current daytime television lineup is targeted predominately toward women. Do you think the potential co-hosts of the Male View could bring in the audience it needs to stay afloat?
Just one year after filling Paula Abdul’s vacant seat on the American Idol judges panel, Ellen DeGeneres has decided to leave the show, saying that it was not “the right fit” for her.
She had brought her concern of not being the right person to be judging the American Idol hopefuls to Fox and the show’s producers a couple months ago, but said she would hold off on doing anything until they were able to find someone to fill her seat. Understandably, DeGeneres said that having her daytime talk show and then judging the nationwide singing competition made her work schedule more than she bargained for.
DeGeneres commented on her decision, saying:
“I also realized this season that while I love discovering, supporting and nurturing young talent, it was hard for me to judge people and sometimes hurt their feelings. I loved the experience working on Idol and I am very grateful for the year I had, I am a huge fan of the show and will continue to be.”
With Ellen DeGeneres’ departure from the show, the team behind American Idol will not just have to find someone to fill her seat, but also Simon Cowell’s who announced he was leaving the show to concentrate on bringing The X Factor, a hit U.K. show, to the U.S.
There are a lot of rumors flying all over the place about American Idol; one in particular is that Steven Tyler will replace Cowell, which could be really interesting.
Hopefully they find two really great new judges because without having people on the panel who people actually want to see and hear from, American Idol could plummet more than it already has throughout the past few seasons.
Bob Barker was stopped by paparazzi while walking down the street yesterday, yes apparently the paparazzi think they’re going to get a huge scandalous story out of an elderly man known for his years on a game show. A legendary game show of course, bnt still, a game show.
When asked about what he thinks of current host of Price is Right Drew Carey, Bob Barker said that Drew fails to add any “excitement” to it.
Barker’s statement, as expected, made the rounds on every celebrity gossip and entertainment website on the internet and got so much attention that Bob Barker felt the need to clarify his statement with EW.com, saying:
“I would not criticize Drew Carey. I would not criticize this show. I would not criticize CBS. I would not criticize FremantleMedia (which produces the show for the network) because I have a sizable royalty that I am paid every year this show is on, and it’s going on for years. I would be an absolute fool. I hope this show stays on for years. As for Drew, he’s been charming and complimentary, and he had me on the show to plug my book Priceless Memories. He devoted half of the show to me! He’s a charming man, and kind and gracious. To think that I would say anything derogatory about him is idiocy.”
Hm. Seems like a good amount of back peddling to me, but hopefully Drew Carey isn’t too offended by Barker’s statements, given Barker is pretty old and fragile and probably can’t handle a fight. (Yes, that was sarcasm.)
This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Charter. All opinions are 100% mine.
Television has recently become quite an important part of my work life. I know what you’re thinking–television, work? How do they go together at all? Well, I have always been a big watcher of television, but then again, who doesn’t love sitting down to watch one of their favorite shows, right? Media is entertaining on its own, but it’s also important to analyze what we’re being subjected to and what we are collectively subjecting our children to. I have always felt that that was important and because of that, I recently started a media blog with a friend of mine, who is also a pretty fabulous social issues blogger, where we analyze, crack jokes and talk about what people are watching and paying attention to.
The creation of this blog not just compliments the hours of television I watch weekly, it also relies on it, so I can’t necessarily miss a show I want to watch and then need to write about. This is where Charter’s On Demand service would save my life–if only Charter was available in my area. However, it is not and that makes me sad. So for all of you out there that can obtain Charter service, you need to check out their On Demand home page.
When most people think of On Demand services, they immediately think of movies, but Charter On Demand also gives you access to thousands of free television shows. That’s a lot of television shows–thousands, so there’s definitely going to be more than a handful of somethings that literally anyone will want to watch and because they are always there, it doesn’t matter if you want to watch your favorite shows during the afternoon or in the middle of the night. There is no more having to rearrange your entire schedule just so you won’t miss a show you’re dying to see; it will be there when you have time to sit down and enjoy it.
It isn’t surprising that On Demand is one of the most popular features of Charter TV in Digital. It’s something that everyone can utilize and once you get it, you wonder how you managed so long without it. Check out their On Demand home page and You will ‘Like’ their Facebook page as well so you won’t miss a thing about anything Charter On Demand-related.
As The World Turns has been vacated from its usual CBS daytime time slot and taking its place is a new show developed and co-produced by Sara Gilbert featuring a handful of other Hollywood moms as they take on topical events and contemporary issues from a mom’s perspective.
No, I’m not talking about Sara Gilbert taking over The View and getting rid of the people we’ve come to not be able to stand anymore and replacing them with fresh faces we are not yet sick of seeing every day. This is a brand new show that is essentially exactly like The View, but since Elisabeth Hasselbeck is now being said to “represent” young mothers in America, it may be just about time to get a new group of Hollywood moms to open up discussions further. I have to say, I really hope it’s better than The View because after watching a good amount of that show, it has come to leave a pretty bad taste in my mouth after a while and I can’t bring myself to watch it much at all anymore.
The head of CBS Daytime had this to say about the new show, which is currently awaiting a name:
“We were looking for a new format that would speak to the core audience but also have the topical and entertainment value to go even broader. This panel is not a bashful bunch; they are outspoken on any issue you put on the table. It promises to be an hour of television with timely discussions, unfiltered opinions and a lot of personality.”
A new format for this show sounds relieving, especially considering we’ve seen the same format on The View for the past 13 years. Has it really been 13 years? That is pretty crazy to even think about.
Also joining Sara Gilbert at the table is Julie Chen, Sharon Osbourne, Holly Robinson Peete, Leah Remini and Marissa Winokur. The Hollywood moms on the show have children ranging from infants to adult and they will swap stories, challenge each other on issues and engage the studio audience and viewers at home about events in the headlines, as well as their homes through the lens of motherhood. The show will also feature guest interviewers with entertainers, newsmakers and even home footage from the co-hosts of the show.
The first season finale of Glee aired just days ago and some may already be going through withdrawal. If these Glee superfans are between the ages of 10 and 16, they may not have to wait until the premiere of the second season to get their fix.
The Fox show has become a crazed sensation and had attracted an amazing fanbase. The show seems to appeal to just about every age group that can appreciate choir-style singing and choreographed dance numbers. In response to the Glee craze, summer camps across the country are offering children the chance to learn song and dance routines from the popular show.
Camp Glee is taking place in several areas across the country, like St. Charles Community College in Cottleville, Mo. that is open to kids ages 10 to 16. The four sessions they have offered are already filled and even more children are on a waiting list for the program. You can also register for Camp Glee at the Charlotte Academy of Music in Matthews, N.C. and at Kindermusik Arts Center in Croften, Md.
With about 10 million kids attending summer camps in the US every summer, this is definitely a profitable market for the programs and they are currently charging anywhere between $149 for one week to $450 for two weeks.
Glee summer camp has already beaten out another session based on Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight series, where children impersonate a character from the story and create alternate endings in the plot.
For fans who don’t fit into the 10 to 16 age group or who may not be attending summer camp this season, Little Brown Books for Young Readers has something to keep the Glee withdrawal at bay. A series of five authorized books based on the hit show will begin rolling out starting September 1st, starting with (naturally) The Beginning, a prequel to the show that will come out in time for the premiere of the show’s second season.
Dove Hair Care has been using the melody of the song “My Favorite Things” with some different, hair care-relevant wording for another popular and wide-spread commercial. Every time that commercial comes on I can’t help but turn it off because I find it incredibly annoying, but the latest commercial featuring Lea Michele, who plays Rachel Barry on Glee, is a lot more enjoyable and thankfully, less annoying.
See, commercials go a lot smoother with an audience when you give a song back its original lyrics. And Glee is so hot right now that Lea Michele, or any Glee star, can appear in pretty much anything, even a 2-minute commercial for a hair care product and Glee fans will love it. Example A: Me.
The object of desire in Dove Hair Care’s newest commercial is the brand new Dove Daily Treatment conditioner, which you can snag a free sample of on Dove’s website. Enjoy!
VH1 has a lot of experience in celebrity reality television, but after Flavor of Love, The Salt-N-Pepa Show and For the Love of Ray J, VH1 is introducing something completely new to the channel… a scripted series.
Single Ladies, starring LisaRaye McCoy, Stacey Dash and Lauren London will be a cross between the CW’s Girlfriends and HBO’s Sex and the City.
Stacey Dash, probably most well-known for her role as Dionne in Clueless, was initially interested in appearing on VH1 in a reality show, but was cast in Single Ladies as a celebrity stylist experiencing autonomy for the first time.
McCoy’s character in the series is much like the character of Samantha in Sex and the City. Her character doesn’t have one of anything–including just one man. she is honest, blunt and McCoy herself stated that her character is the slut of the group.
There is very little information floating around on London’s character, but her rep confirms that the role is a small one and all we know so far is that her character is young, semi-shy and married to an NBA player.
Single Ladies is being written by none other than Queen Latifah, the award-winning actress, MC and newly-published author. There is no information on when the official air date for Single Ladies will be, but four-day rehearsals and filming begins this week in Atlanta.
Sexuality is something to be celebrated and explored and we hope to help you do just that with the articles and reviews we publish in our love and sex category.
