Make Your Voice Heard: The Breast Cancer Patient Protection Act
Next week, Representatives Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) and Joe Barton (R-TX) will be reintroducing the legislation to Congress that will help protect women after undergoing procedures to treat breast cancer.
The Breast Cancer Patient Protection Act is a critical step needed to end the horrible practice of “drive-through” mastectomies, which forced women to check out of the hospital sometimes only hours after invasive breast cancer surgery.
Make your voice heard and call your Representatives in Congress and urge them to be an original cosponsor of this legislation.
To reach your member of Congress, call the US House of Representatives switchboard at 202.225.3121. To find your Representative, visit the US House of Representatives’ website.
Help Fight Ovarian Cancer with Cupcakes!
Everyone certainly has their own way of celebrating Valentine’s Day, but this year Electrolux and Kelly Ripa are getting proactive in the spirit of Valentine’s Day and helping the fight against ovarian cancer with cupcakes! Well, virtual cupcakes, that is.
Electrolux is asking people to participate in a unique and charitable social media campaign where people can create and send virtual cupcakes to friends, family, co-workers, or anyone else you think could use a smile in the spirit of Valentine’s Day and charity!
For every virtual cupcake sent, Electrolux will donate $1 to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund (OCRF) as part of their half million dollar commitment to help support ovarian cancer research. And if doing something simply in the name of charity doesn’t seem too appealing to you, everyone who logs on and sends a cupcake will be entered for a chance …
Doctor, Doctor!?
Drs. Carol Baker and William Schaffner eliminate conFLUsion about influenza.
What is influenza?
Although influenza can cause headache, cough, sore throat, and a stuffy/blocked nose, it’s not the common cold. A cold can feel like a cake walk compared to the flu. Influenza is a serious viral infection that can spread quickly through a home, school or office and cause severe illness, like pneumonia and sometimes even death. It hits you very suddenly, usually with high fever, aches and chills. Children can also have ear aches, nausea and vomiting. It’s not pretty.
How bad can it really be?
You’ve heard the phrase “hits you like a ton of bricks.” People use the word “flu” loosely, often to describe a terrible cold or a stomach virus. But flu is more than an inconvenience; it can wipe you out and it can lead …
Blogging for Blood Cancer
The first ever, annual Blogging for Blood Cancer event starts tomorrow! I wish I had heard of this cause sooner, but as soon as I stumbled upon it over at Goodies for Mom, I immediately signed up.
The Blogging for Blood Cancer event is hosted by Goodies for Mom in conjunction with the Friends of Heroes (FOH) National Light the Night Team in hopes of bringing United States bloggers together to raise awareness for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and its mission to cure Leukemia, Lymphoma, Hodgkin’s Disease and Melanoma as well as to improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
This is an excellent cause to hop on board for and I will most definitely be participating this upcoming week. I …
Vote For Your Favorite Undies and Help Cervical Cancer Research
I love underwear. Seriously, I cannot be within five feet of Victoria’s Secret or any store selling cute and sexy undies or I would go broke in minutes. I’ve owned pretty much all styles and types of bras and panties and if you’re like me, once you find that bra or panty that fits you the best and is the most comfortable, you love it to death–Literally, you will wear it until it develops holes and still consider keeping it. You may even go as far as to want to tell every other woman you come into contact with all about the bra that makes you feel incredible or the panties that you can wear with a tight skirt without any discomfort.
So I want to hear about your favorite undies. …
