Ways to Avoid High Blood Pressure

Ways to Avoid High Blood Pressure

This is a guest post by Dave Boblenz, PharmD, a pharmacist with over 14 years of experience. He operates Pharmacy Technician Certification.

Hypertension is defined as high blood pressure. Blood pressure readings should be no more than 120 over 80. The top number (120) is the systolic pressure or pressure created when your heart beats. The bottom number (80) is the diastolic pressure or pressure inside blood vessels when the heart is at rest. Physicians tend to be more concerned with the diastolic pressure because you do not want constant pressure on your arteries, but both should be monitored.

Hypertension often has no symptoms. This is why it is important to regularly have your blood pressure checked. Keep in mind the “white coat factor”, which basically means your blood pressure goes up because you are nervous …

Green Giant Prize Pack Giveaway Winner

Green Giant Prize Pack Giveaway Winner

Thanks to everyone who entered our Green Giant broccoli & cheese sauce boxed vegetables prize pack giveaway.

I have tried a few different brands of frozen vegetables with a cheese sauce and when you take them out of the freezer, the cheese is in these chips that are meant to melt when you put them in the microwave for a few minutes. On a number of occasions, these chips have not melted and after putting them back in the microwave, you run a great, big chance of overcooking the vegetables. This is not good. However, I am happy to be able to say that Green Giant broccoli & cheese sauce frozen vegetables do not contain these miraculous, impossible to melt cheese chips.

The Green Giant broccoli & cheese sauce frozen vegetables are contained …

How to Easily Incorporate Whole Grains into Your Daily Diet

How to Easily Incorporate Whole Grains into Your Daily Diet

The new U.S. Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommends that each American should get three full daily servings of whole grain. In reality, a staggering 95% of Americans are only getting a little more than half a serving of whole grain daily. That means that fewer than 1 in 20 people living in the U.S. has the recommended daily serving of whole grain incorporated into their diet.

Whole grain provides vital nutrients such as antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and other important nutrients that make up a healthy diet. Whole grains are those that contain the complete grain, including the bran, the germ and the endosperm. When working together naturally, these three ingredients have tremendous health benefits.

After some research, it has been found that a big indicator as to why most Americans are not receiving the daily recommended …

March is National Autoimmune Diseases Awareness Month — Join AARDA in Spotlighting 50 Million People Affected

Less than 13% of Americans can name an autoimmune disease, yet there are over 100 different diseases that fall into this category and they affect more than 50 million Americans, making autoimmune diseases a major U.S. health crisis.

March is National Autoimmune Diseases Awareness Month and American Autoimmune Related Diseases Association (AARDA) is spreading awareness and asking people to take notice of the 50 million of our friends, family and co-workers who suffer every day with one or more of the 100+ autoimmune diseases. They are doing this through the “We are 50 Million” campaign.

“We are 50 Million” spotlights people and their unique stories about living every day with an autoimmune disease. It asks the question, “How many of the 50 Million Does Your Family Represent?”

On a personal level, I have …

All Natural LÄRABAR Snack Bar Review

All Natural LÄRABAR Snack Bar Review

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of LÄRABAR. All opinions are 100% mine.

I have kept a daily schedule that most people have come to describe as bizarre throughout my entire adult life. While most people go to bed at some point during the evenings and wake up bright and early in the morning to begin their day, I wake up at some point in the evenings and go to bed typically in the late morning or early afternoon. This has always felt completely natural to me. Regardless of the amount of effort I put into trying to keep one of those “normal” schedules the rest of the world seems so crazy about–and it does take substantial effort on my part–my internal clock just doesn’t keep up with it …

Green Giant Broccoli & Cheese Sauce Boxed Vegetables Prize Pack Giveaway (Closed)

Green Giant Broccoli & Cheese Sauce Boxed Vegetables Prize Pack Giveaway (Closed)

This giveaway is now closed.

Well all know how important it is to eat healthy foods throughout the day and one way to do that is to incorporate vegetables into our lunches and/or dinners every day. It isn’t always easy to make sure we’re picking out the right vegetables at the store, so when all else fails, I do go to the frozen food aisle to pick out vegetables that were frozen within mere hours–or less–from the time they were picked.

One brand I go to quite a bit is Green Giant and through MyBlogSpark, I was given the opportunity to try out a box of their broccoli & cheese sauce frozen vegetables. You may think that cheese smothered-vegetables aren’t the healthiest route to go, but in addition to being really …
