See Hungry Girl and Consumers Talk About Yoplait Fiber One Yogurt and Try it for Yourself

Ever since I first had the opportunity to try Yoplait’s Fiber One yogurt last summer, I knew I had found my new favorite yogurt and since that time, my love for Fiber One yogurt has not wavered one little bit.

Before Yoplait’s Fiber One yogurt even hit shelves, it had already received Lisa Lillien, also known as Hungry Girl’s seal of approval. In fact, it is the first nationally-distributed yogurt to receive this seal of approval. In every 4oz of this yogurt is 5 grams of fiber (20% of the recommended daily value each and every single one of us need daily,) is a great source of calcium and vitamins A and D and is just 50 calories.

In the past, we have also had the opportunity to share with you coupons for Yoplait’s Fiber One yogurt–one for $1 off of a 4-pack of yogurt, and another for a free 4-pack of yogurt. Needless to say, this yogurt rocks and I am so excited to be able to share even more Fiber One yogurt love with all of you out there!

At a recent Fiber One yogurt tasting event, Lisa Lillien chatted with consumers about this tasty snack. Thanks to Yoplait, we have the opportunity to share a video with you from this recent tasting event so you can see what other folks think of Fiber One yogurt and also a downloadable $1 off Fiber One yogurt coupon!

Yoplait’s Fiber One yogurt comes in four flavors–strawberry, vanilla, peach and key lime pie, so you will definitely be able to find a flavor that you will absolutely love. Enjoy!

Valentine’s Day Dinner Menu–Add These Aphrodisiacs

February 13, 2010 by Holly
Filed Under Food & Beverage Finds, Home & Food

Plan on making your valentine a romantic dinner tomorrow night? Head to your local grocery store and pick up some of these tried and true edible aphrodisiacs perfect for Valentine’s Day!

Oysters:

oysters

Oysters are the classic and cliche aphrodisiacs who get a lot of attention for their mouth feel, especially when swallowed raw and whole. Another reason why they are so synonymous with gettin’ it on is because of their resemblance to female genitalia. Oysters are very high in protein and rich in zinc and iron–nutrients that help in the transport of oxygen and stimulate the metabolism.

Chocolate:

chocolate

Chocolate isn’t known for its connection to Valentine’s Day for nothing, so the next time your honey brings you a chocolate-filled heart, know that chocolate is actually a flavorful source of quick energy and has been known to elevate people’s moods due to it containing theobromine and caffeine–two related alkaloid stimulants. Chocolate is also rich in phenylethylamine, a compound that has effects similar to amphetamine.

Avocado:

avocado

Avocados are sodium and cholesterol-free, they are nutritious, creamy and mild to taste. The curves of an avocado perfectly mimic the curve’s of a woman’s body and is filled with good fats and has a wonderful buttery texture.

Ginger:

ginger

Before we had the modern medicine in over-the-counter pain relievers like Midol and Pamprin, ginger was used to help relieve menstrual cramps and many people still use ginger root to soothe the stomach. Ginger acts as a stimulant and is known to relax the smooth muscles of the uterus and intestines.

Bananas:

banana

Yes, this is very, very obvious–it is impossible to look at a banana without taking note of its obvious phallic shape. Bananas are rich in potassium and B vitamins, which are two necessary components for sex-hormone production.

Artichokes:

artichokes

Artichokes are one of the oldest-known foods filled with antioxidants. Prickly to touch, if you can make it to the center, its delectable heart reveals itself and you can feast on its delicately meaty substance. Yes, another pretty obvious conclusion as to why this is an aphrodisiac.

Honey:

honey

Honey is sticky, sweet and golden. The look, taste and texture of honey makes it alluring and mysterious.

Pine Nuts:

pine nuts

Pine nuts are full of zinc, a key mineral in maintaining male potency. They have been used to stimulate the libido since Medieval Times. They contain good fats and have an extremely velvety texture.

Vanilla:

vanilla

Vanilla has been said to increase feelings of lust, being very seductive. Some studies have shown that vanilla can raise levels of catecholamines, or the adrenaline, in the blood.

3/365 Days: Progresso

3/365: Progresso

I recently had the opportunity to try 15 out of the 40 new flavors of Progresso Light and 100 calorie soups, thanks to Progresso and their new Souper You Debut contest, and MyBlogSpark. They are so delicious and like I mentioned in the full-length review of Progresso Light soups, I have recently been going through a great deal of physical pain because of my crowded, impacted wisdom teeth that I have not been able to get pulled and having Periodontal Disease, which also attributes to that major cheek-swelling you can’t help but notice in the above picture, so needless to say, soup is one of the major items on my extremely limited list of food items my mouth has been able to handle lately.

Progresso, you couldn’t have come at a better time.

We are also giving away a Progresso Prize Pack which consists of 2 cans of Progresso Light and 100 calorie soups, a Progresso mug (which you see in the above picture,) and a digital jump rope that keeps track of jumps and calories burned over time. Enter for your chance to win! The giveaway ends February 10th at 11:59PM EST.

Progresso Souper You Review and Giveaway

This giveaway has closed.

At the start of every new year, most of the women I know and connect with regularly openly talk about how their New Year’s resolution is to lose weight and/or to eat healthier. These are some great resolutions, especially the eating healthy one because while losing weight is a perk for a great deal of women, I whole-heartedly believe that crash dieting and the diet industry as a whole is a multi-billion dollar business for a reason, so if you do truly want to lose weight, it should be for purely health reasons, which is why eating healthy and choosing foods that will nourish you instead of just fill you is really important.

Now that we are more than a month into the new year, (by the way, can you believe that? I know I can’t!) a lot of women have been reporting on their progress with their New Year’s resolutions and if they have been able to stick to what they had planned before January 1st. I have noticed that a lot of women are increasingly strong-willed this year in the commitments they have made to themselves, nearly everyone I’ve checked up on who I had read on their blogs had made a New Year’s resolution has been sticking to it pretty phenomenally. So, for those of you who made the resolution to eat healthier and who are still on the fast-track to healthy eating, I have something really great to share with you!

I am a big, big, big fan of soup. I have been not-so blessed in the teeth department, having been diagnosed with Periodontal Disease and rapid tooth decay a few years ago after my wisdom teeth had started to push their way in. Because I am a professional blogger and also a freelance writer and web designer and developer who works from home, I have a very modest monthly income. I can pretty much cover my expenses month-to-month and that’s about it. That, coupled with the fact that I also live with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and major depressive disorder, (which I have blogged about here before,) makes it impossible for me to hold a job outside of the home, it isn’t a possibility for me to go out and get a part time job to help pay dental bills. Needless to say, this causes me a great deal of excruciating physical pain where for days at a time, I am unable to open my mouth wide enough to get most foods in it. That is when soup saves my life and the sanity I would not have after getting insanely frustrated with how big bite-sized food is.

Progresso Souper You Progresso has always been a great source of delicious and nutritious soup and they have made it even healthier than before by offering an entire product line of light soups that are all 100 calories or less! It is officially super easy to get a great and satisfying meal in your belly and help manage your weight at the same time. To celebrate their line of light soups, Progresso has launched the Souper You Debut–a contest where you can enter for the chance to win a full makeover in New York City!

To enter the Progresso Souper You Debut contest, all you have to do is go to www.Progresso.com/SouperYou and submit an essay (200 characters or less) telling Progresso why you love Progresso Light or 100 calorie soups and why you would like a full makeover. You will also need to submit a photo of yourself that visually reinforces the theme of your essay. Three grand prize winners will be awarded a trip for two to New York City from May 21st-23rd and includes roundtrip airfare, a two-night stay in a NYC hotel, a full makeover, a $1000 wardrobe shopping spree and personal consultation at a New York department store. Pretty fabulous if you ask me!

Review & Giveaway

To get the good word out about new Progresso Light and 100 calorie soups, I had the opportunity to try them out for myself and thanks to Progresso and MyBlogSpark, received 15 cans of Progresso Light and 100 calorie soups in a variety of different flavors, along with a Progresso soup mug and a digital jump rope that keeps track of jumps and calories burned to help you start working out more, in addition to utilizing soup to help manage your weight.

Progresso Light and 100 calorie soups

The variety of soups I received is absolutely insane; I was completely blown away by the amount of different flavors offered and there is definitely something for everyone’s specific tastes. My partner, who usually despises soup and will not eat it regardless of what you bribe him with, loved the Italian-Style Meatball with Penne and I cannot get enough of the Chicken and Dumpling. I love, love, love the Progresso soup mug and now refuse to eat my soup out of anything else. It has a great little thumb indentation at the top of the handle to make carrying it from the kitchen to my computer desk very comfortable.

And we want to share the Progresso love!

Because Progresso is awesome like that and MyBlogSpark is always all about extending the opportunity to try awesome products to others, we have the opportunity to give one lucky Woman Tribune reader 2 cans of Progresso Light soup, a Progresso soup mug and a digital jump rope.

Jones Soda Celebrates the Holidays with One Peculiar Flavor

Disclosure: This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Jones Soda. All opinions are 100% mine.

tofurky and gravy Jones Soda Whenever you mention to a friend a completely out there flavor of soda you’ve heard about, seen or recently tried, most often, they will ask you ‘Hey, that has to be Jones soda, right?’ Well they have brought out yet another flavor that came out just in time for Thanksgiving and is remaining on the scene for the rest of the holiday season–Tofurky and Gravy Jones Soda .

I received a bottle of Tofurky and Gravy soda, along with a hilarious turkey hat that was a huge hit with my youngest stepdaughter who insisted on wearing it from the moment she even heard about a hat shaped like a turkey; it was also enjoyed immensely by my entire family when my partner put it on as we walked into the house for Thanksgiving dinner. A few weeks later and the turkey hat is still a huge hit with whoever comes over and sees it. Now, onto the soda…

Tofurky and Gravy Jones Soda is perhaps the most disgusting soda I have ever had in my possession. Now granted, I did not try it–because I gagged from merely the smell of it when my partner opened the bottle and tried it. We have also had our two friends who recently moved in next door to us try it and they reported that as soon as you got past the first two or three sips, the aftertaste of it really does taste exactly like turkey and gravy.

So while it wasn’t a big hit with me or my family, it sure did make a great conversation piece for a little while!

Ronzoni Smart Taste Pasta Makes Eating Healthy Easy!

Ronzoni Smart Taste

It is very difficult to get kids to eat most healthy food. Sure, you can make it and place it in front of them, but there is definitely a universal kid’s yum factor chart to take into consideration and more often than not, your healthy and balanced meal you’ve just prepared isn’t even going to rank. Most kids are insanely picky eaters; my stepdaughters live in the land of McDonald’s and whenever they are with us, we hear about how awesome McDonald’s is. I have the very strong belief that McDonald’s was created by a group of people who stayed up at night thinking about how to make the lives of parents of young children as hard as possible. Sure, it’s convenient and also unhealthy and they not only made incredibly unhealthy foods fun, but some of their establishments exude fun and excitement because they had to go and put an entire playground in the place.

So when you get your family together at the table for dinner, it has become a feat unto itself to prepare something that everyone will eat, or at least take a few bites of before they tell you there’s no way they’re eating it.

Ronzoni Smart Taste line Pasta a big dinner staple in my house. Firstly, it’s cheap, which is a must when you live in the economic climate that so many of us do. Secondly, it’s delicious–pair it with some of your family’s favorite sauces and you’ve got a meal that will start to be requested. But pasta isn’t always healthy; a great deal of traditional white pastas are not packed with nutritional value. Ronzoni Smart Taste, however, is the smart and healthy way to eat pasta with an entire line of different pastas that will satisfy even the pickiest of eaters in your family.

Check out this insanely cute video Ronzoni Smart Taste put together to show just how far some moms will go to get their kids to eat healthy:

I had the opportunity to try Ronzoni Smart Taste spaghetti, thanks to Mom Central and as far as I could tell, I couldn’t taste a difference between their pasta and other traditional white pastas, which was actually a good thing because it went over very well! Plus, it’s the same taste your children are used to but Ronzoni Smart Taste pastas are packed with more fiber and calcium and they’re cholesterol-free, making it a great and healthy dinner choice!

If you’re sick of boring pastas and don’t know what to do with it to make it an exciting meal, check out the Ronzoni Smart Taste Meal Center, full of great recipes to try next time you’re having a pasta night!

Disclosure: I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Ronzoni Pasta and received a sample of Ronzoni Smart Taste Pasta to facilitate my review and a $20 thank-you gift certificate.

Back in July we featured an in-depth video review (my first video, by the way!) of Fiber One yogurt. I loved the yogurt, it was delicious and we went through two 4-packs of yogurt in just a few days because it was so good and even better, it contains 5 grams of fiber in every 4oz serving (that’s 20% of your recommended daily value of fiber just in one little yogurt cup!) It’s also only 50 calories and is the only leading nonfat yogurt that is packed with so much good stuff for your body. Fiber One nonfat yogurt is also the first nationally-distributed yogurt to receive the Hungry Girl Seal of Approval. It’s definitely a nutritious, delicious and convenient breakfast and snack option and now we want you to try it for yourself!

Thanks to Yoplait, we have been given the opportunity to give 50 lucky Woman Tribune readers the opportunity to try Fiber One yogurt for free! This Halloween, Give Out Something Kids and the Environment will Love

October 17, 2009 by Holly

Tetra Pak Bulk-sized bags of candy have adorned the aisles of your local grocery stores as well as party and specialty shots since the end of September in preparation for Halloween. Halloween has always been the haunted-house-going, candy-receiving holiday for children; well, as far back as our own childhoods go anyway. Most people hand out candy and junk food, others, albeit very few and those not particularly popular with children, give out toothbrushes, raisins and other not-so-sugary sweets. This Halloween, you can give out something that isn’t completely filled with sugar, but will also delight the children who receive your loot–chocolate milk!

Sure, not just any chocolate milk–shelf-safe milk in Tetra Pak cartons. Trick or Treat Me is spreading the word about the benefits of shelf-safe Tetra Pak cartons of chocolate milk and trusted brands including Hershey’s and Organic Valley have begun offering their chocolate milk in in these cartons. Not only do these milk cartons make excellent Halloween loot, but they will also ensure that your children get all the nutrients they need every day.

Tetra Paks are shelf-safe, which means that they can be stored in the pantry until you’re ready to hand them out for Halloween or until the morning you pop them into your kid’s school lunches. This also means that you can buy them in bulk and keep them in the pantry for up to 12 months without worrying about them going bad or becoming unusable. They are healthy for kids, they don’t contain preservatives and they are made mainly from paper, a renewable resource that can be recycled. Not only will you make your children happy when you give them this delicious snack or supplement to their lunch, but you’ll also be helping the environment and reducing your family’s carbon footprint.

Check out the video below from Robin Miller to see how easy it is to incorporate these Tetra Pak cartons of milk into your children’s school lunches and also get a few tips on how to stretch your family’s budget when it comes to preparing nutritious and delicious lunches:

If you’re not yet in the Halloween spirit (you only have two weeks left) you will be after visiting Twick or Tweet Me and sending a Halloween tweet to your friends. You’ll also be able to see (and vote for) people who you think are the scariest twitterers out there in the Twittersphere.

Peter Rabbit Organics: Healthy, 100% Organic Fruit Snack Pouches for Your Little Ones

July 30, 2009 by Holly
Filed Under Food & Beverage Finds, Home & Food

Peter Rabbit Organics

Every parent is concerned about what is going into their child’s bellies and even more-so, the quality of what is going into their child’s bellies. That is precisely the reason why it has become the gospel to buy organic fruits and vegetables whenever possible. But while you can be sure to purchase organic where it counts and provide your family with nutritious and healthy meals, when it comes to snacks, we very often disregard the health factor and go with the flow of convenience. Luckily, there are a few reputable companies making delicious snacks that your kids will fall in love with, even if they’re the type to run away from you screaming when you take a piece of fruit out of a lunch box for them to munch on.

Peter Rabbit Organics is a small, privately-owned company who were inspired by their own families to create a delicious and healthy snack that kids love. Already a hit with British children, Peter Rabbit Organics’ healthy fruit puree in a pouch has been introduced in the United States within the past year and from my experience, it is sure to come as a breath of fresh air to parents who can’t get their children to snack on fresh fruits, or even for your significant other who still turn their nose up at an apple.

The Peter Rabbit Organics pouches are super convenient for busy parents who want to give the kids something to snack on while riding in the car without having to clean up a huge mess that has been sloshing around for the last twenty miles, packs perfectly in lunch boxes, diaper bags, and purses, and provides a little fun with their snack as they squeeze, squish, and slurp from the pouch. It also has a no-choke cap, specifically designed for little ones who like to experiment with putting everything in their mouths just to see what happens.

Peter Rabbit Organics

The Peter Rabbit Organics pouches come in three different flavors–strawberry and banana, mango, banana, and orange, and apple and grape. What’s great about these is that the words on the front of the pouch are the true ingredients; there is no artificial flavoring or an extensive list of chemicals to get the puree the color or taste it is; it is simply and delightfully organic fruit that is completely healthy. There isn’t even water or fillers, making it more nutritious and ensuring that you are getting all of the nutrients your body needs from it.

We definitely enjoyed this snack in my house. My first thought when trying it for the first time was that it really was fruit I was tasting–the real fruit you would pick up and bite into, but in a puree that I could slurp and because I have a dental condition that makes it so that I cannot bite into or chew extremely hard or chewy foods, eating fresh fruits that are generally hard, such as apples, is out of the question, so this was a great way for me to enjoy my fruit and not aggravate my teeth. And yes, I’m a grown woman, so Peter Rabbit Organics are not just for the kiddos. In fact, I was only able to enjoy one of the fruit puree pouches because within three days my partner had went through the six pouches we had. While I had been excited to make a sorta-kinda Italian ice with a few of the pouches, an idea I completely stole from one of my favorite blogs, Momspective, I didn’t have the time to do so because they were gone before I realized ‘Oh yeah, I can make an Italian ice treat!’

Needless to say, these pouches were a huge hit and a phenomenal source of fruit for the entire family.
