Who Would You Share the Bite-Size, Big Taste of New TWIX Bites With? #TWIXBites Giveaway [Closed]

I received TWIX Bites for review. This giveaway was made possible by PartnersHub. No other incentive was provided and opinions are my own.

TWIX Bites

I love me some TWIX. Sweet, chocolaty with a nice crunch, and conveniently packaged in a metallic wrapper, TWIX have always been one of the candies I seek.

If you’re a TWIX fan, you’ll likely be pleased to know that they are now available in bite-size. With the same rich caramel, crunchy cookie, and smooth milk chocolate we’ve all loved for decades, new TWIX Bites are just as delicious as the original bars and are even easier to share. Or not share. We don’t judge here.

TWIX Bites

These little candies are seriously good. They really do pack the same big taste and this new size lends well to those of us who like to get a little creative with our sweets.

I like to combine candy with popcorn, so I put a handful of TWIX Bites in the microwave at 30-second increments and drizzled it over hot buttered popcorn. Popcorn, caramel, milk chocolate, and the occasional crunchy cookie? You can’t get much better than that in the junk food world.

With such big taste in these little bites, you’re probably wondering why they didn’t think of doing this sooner. To find out, check out the hilarious video below, or call 1-844-WHY-SO-LONG to be treated to decade-by-decade excuses as to why!

New TWIX Bites are now available nationwide in two convenient sizes — 2.83-ounce bag and 7.0-ounce resealable stand-up pouch. Who would you share your TWIX Bites with?

Your New Favorite Salad Add-In: Saffron Road Crunchy Chickpeas Review and Giveaway [Closed]

I received Saffron Road Crunchy Chickpeas for review as well as the opportunity to host this giveaway. No other incentive was provided and opinions are my own.

Saffron Road Crunchy Chickpeas

Over the last couple of weeks spring has really kicked it into high gear and so have I. May has hands down been the most productive month of my last few years on the homestead front. The amount of spring cleaning that has taken place inside and out undoubtedly exceeded manic proportions. I have also been working out and paying close attention to what I’m putting in my body, which has really done wonders for my energy level.

For lunch most days I cut up a few veggies and make a salad, but anyone who eats salads frequently knows that they can get boring fast. You can only mix and match vegetables and fruit so many ways, and there are only so many things you can practically put in a salad to mix things up.

Saffron Road Crunchy Chickpeas detail

Chickpeas have been a frequent salad add-in of mine, but I have always eaten them in their natural state or in hummus. Saffron Road has changed up how I enjoy my chickpeas with their line of low-fat, protein-rich organic Crunchy Chickpeas, of which they have added two new flavors to their line — Korean BBQ and Chipotle.

The Korean BBQ Crunchy Chickpeas contain the perfect combination of sweet and spicy flavoring with Korean bulgogi marinade: soy sauce, pear juice, sesame oil, garlic, and red pepper. The Chipotle flavor is made with patience by smoking dry jalapeno peppers that deliver a kick of Mexican heat with each bite. They are truly the perfect guilt-free snacking solution that is absolutely packed with flavor.

Saffron Road Crunchy Chickpeas Korean BBQ

I have been enjoying Saffron Road’s Crunchy Chickpeas, and there is a reason why I think they are your new favorite salad add-in rather than an out-of-the-bag snack. They are unfortunately very, very dry. I attempted to eat them on their own while watching television one night, but was left attempting to cough up the crunchy seasoned chickpea pieces that were grating the inside of my throat. Light dressing on a salad gives them the moisture they need to make them easier to enjoy.

Saffron Road was founded to serve the need of a halal food brand that embodied ethical consumerism. They are a brand dedicated to halal, sustainability, all-natural, antibiotic-free and 100% vegetarian-fed, and harvested on family-owned farms. Their Crunchy Chickpeas are Non-GMO Project verified and deliver an international snacking staple to American tables, dashboards, and backpacks nationwide.

Saffron Road has 8 product lines, including frozen entrees, broths and sauces, and even mini tarts and hors d’oeuvres. Visit the Saffron Road store locator to find where product lines are sold near you.

nibblr Snack Subscription Box Review and FREE Boxes for ALL

I received a nibblr snack box for review. No other incentive was provided and opinions are my own.

Nibblr box

This is my last nibblr snack box review, and I have to say that I am impressed with how favorable my nibblr trial subscription has been.

I was expecting to either get bored with nibblr, or really dislike at least a few of the snacks they offered. Neither of those things happened. Instead, I was still excited when my third box showed up, all of the nibblr snacks I received were either fantastic or at least good. Overall, the quality, portion size, and price point of nibblr is still very attractive and worth it.

The four wholesome, portion-controlled snacks featured in this box were Yogurt-Na Love It, Sesa-Me & You, Mediterranean Treasures, and Dutch Choco-Crispers.

Nibblr Sesa-Me & You Mediterranean Treasures

For the second month in a row I received a repeat snack. I mentioned this mild annoyance in my second nibblr box review that included the Olde World Blend mix that was also in my first nibblr box. This time, I was treated to a second helping of the Sesa-Me & You almonds, which was also in my first box. This would have disappointed me more if I didn’t really, really enjoy the Sesa-Me & You mix, but they have been my absolute favorite nibblr snack of all so far, so I was content to eat them again.

Ingredients: almonds, sugar, sesame seeds, water, honey, margarine, salt

The Mediterranean Treasures mix is my least favorite of all the snacks I’ve had the opportunity to try thus far. It could be because I just received two boxes in a row that contained the Olde World Blend mix which is pretty much the same as the Mediterranean Treasures, only this one has dried apricots.

Ingredients: mission figs, date pieces, apricots

Nibblr Yogurt-Na Love It

Even with the very underwhelming Mediterranean Treasures, I still consider this box to be a big hit. The Yogurt-Na Love It mix completely lived up to its name. It is a perfectly blended mix spotlighting yogurt-covered raisins and there is a mild cinnamon taste that pairs deliciously with the vanilla of the yogurt.

Nibblr Yogurt-Na Love It opened

I wouldn’t hold it against nibblr if they just wanted to send me an entire box of just this snack. Nope, not at all.

Ingredients: seed clusters, yogurt raisins, almonds

The Dutch Choco-Crispers were a very pleasant surprise. I wasn’t expecting much of a rich chocolate-y taste, but as I ate my second, then my third and fourth Crispers, the dark chocolate flavor was really apparent and delicious. Needless to say, these lasted about as long as the Yogurt-Na Love It mix — not long at all.

The only drawback I did have with this snack is that in the picture of them on the nibblr website, they are pictured as these perfectly square and intact crisps drizzled in chocolate. I got Dutch Choco-Crispers pieces.

Ingredients: enriched flour, unsalted butter, sugar, Monterrey Jack cheese, chocolate seeds, cocoa, Madagascar Bourbon vanilla, yeast, salt, antioxidants (mixed tocopherols and/or natural herbs)

My Second nibblr Box Review and FREE Boxes for ALL

I received a nibblr snack box for review. No other incentive was provided and opinions are my own.

This is my second nibblr snack box and while there were some issues that I will get into, my experience with nibblr is still very much positive. It’s a great choice for those looking for a wholesome snack subscription box at a reasonable price point.

Nibblr box

Right off the bat we start this box off with the Olde World Blend, which was really good. It’s filled with big dates, mission figs, and red walnuts. I really enjoyed it, and I also enjoyed it in my first nibblr box, the one that arrived not even a month prior to this one.

If the reason why I received the Olde World Blend again is because I marked it as “Like It” in the nibblr snacks dashboard rating system, then I can understand that. That being said, nibblr has over 55 different snack options to try and rate. The fact that two out of two boxes I have received contained the same blend is enough to make me raise an eyebrow.

Nibblr Olde World Blend Turtle Twist & Caramel Apple

According to nibblr, the Turtle Twist mix creates the meaning of indulgence. I wouldn’t go that far, but it was delicious and I finished off the entire tray in one sitting only to be left wondering if it were possible for another tray to magically appear by my side. One can hope, right?

Ingredients: dark chocolate, caramel bits, pecans

The Caramel Apple snack mix in this box threw me for a loop. I’m actually still a little confused by it. I received a Caramel Apple snack mix in my first nibblr box. However, that Caramel Apple snack mix was not this Caramel Apple snack mix. Two different blends with the same flavor combinations going by the same name, perhaps? Sure, if the mix I received in this box was even listed on nibblr’s website under their list of snacks, but it’s not. It was pretty good, though, whatever it was.

Nibblr Caramel Apple & Bruschetta

The Bruschetta snack mix comes in at a close second to my favorite nibblr snack so far, the Sesa-Me & You almonds. It is a savory snack with an abundance of flavor going on, cheddar and asiago cheeses, sun dried tomato, and garlic and herbs.

Ingredients: sun dried tomato basil peanuts, garlic herb cashews, cheese crisps

If you’re looking for a quality food subscription box, nibblr delivers four portion-controlled snacks that are more or less healthy, packaged in individually sealed trays that make it easy to grab on the go.

Love Snack Time? Van’s Foods Snacks Review

We received Van’s Foods snacks for review. No other incentive was provided and opinions are our own.

I have written about my need and love to snack numerous times, so you know I was psyched to be approached by Van’s Foods to share my thoughts on some of their new natural snacks.

Based in Southern California, Van’s Foods is the leading natural foods brand in gluten-free and allergy-friendly snacks and frozen breakfast foods. Their lineup includes waffles, pancakes, cereal, crackers, snack bars, and earlier this year Van’s extended its snack line to include multigrain chips and PB&J sandwich bars.

Van’s believes that nutritious is delicious and that treating yourself can taste good, feel good, and also be good for you. If you have been sticking to healthier eating goals in the new year, Van’s has created these new ways for you to snack without deprivation or guilt.

Van's Foods chips

Van’s Multigrain Chips (MSRP $3.49) in Nacho, Nacho Man! and Mighty Good BBQ! are loaded with 18 grams of whole grains and just 130 calories per serving. Made with gluten-free brown rice, oats, millet, quinoa, and amaranth, Van’s Multigrain Chips are crispy, crunchy, and flavorful. These guilt-free treats keep it real, containing no high fructose corn syrup, artificial ingredients, or hydrogenated or GMO oils, and they’re great for dipping or enjoying right out of the bag.

Van's Foods chips nutritional info

I could not get enough of these chips. I have never been a fan of regular old potato chips, but I do like the healthier varieties that have come out in recent years. I think it’s the texture that hooks me. I’m very conscious of texture when I am eating anything, and the brown rice, oats, millet, and quinoa that make up the blend of these chips is really pleasant.

Both varieties are delicious and more than satisfy that snacking bug that strikes a couple of hours after dinner when you’re curled up watching a good movie. I was a slightly bigger fan of the Mighty Good BBQ! flavor while my fiance loved the cheddar cheese flavor of the Nacho, Nacho Man! chips. Both bags were practically licked clean in just days of having them in our kitchen.

Van's Foods sandwich bars

You don’t have to be a kid to enjoy Van’s PB&J Sandwich Bars (MSRP $4.49), a classic blend of real peanut butter and fruit spread, sandwiched between two gluten-free bars made with whole grains for a new take on the classic PB&J. This sweet, chewy delight is available in Blueberry and Strawberry, and is perfect for a quick, nutritious breakfast, lunchtime treat, snack, or dessert featuring 10 grams of whole grains.

Van's Foods sandwich bar

I have always enjoyed the versatility of snack bars. I used to take two with me in the morning on my way to school when I was a teenager, and I still like snacking on them in the morning or as something sweet after dinner. They are a great way to satisfy a sweet tooth without indulging in something you may not feel too good about later. In my case, I have very sensitive teeth and I am hypoglycemic. I can’t always go to the cakes and cookies and brownies when I’m craving something sweet, so Van’s Foods PB&J Sandwich Bars were just what I needed when I needed it without making me regret it later.

Van's Foods sandwich bar open

Also released for 2014, Van’s has rounded out its newest offerings with fiber and whole-grain-rich, Non-GMO Project-certified Love Your Heart Waffles (MSRP $3.49). Made from a mix of hearty whole grains including whole wheat, barley, oats, and more, each serving of Van’s Love Your Heart Waffles is packed with 34 grams of whole grains and 7 grams of fiber, including 1 gram of soluble fiber.

Studies show that 3 grams of soluble fiber in a daily diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol may reduce the risk of heart disease.

Where Does Coffee Come From? A Journey from Bean to Cup #infographic

Where Does Coffee Come From infographic

I drink a lot of coffee. A lot. Coffee is one of the great loves of my life, and I can’t even honestly say that is an exaggeration. My fiance and I were having a discussion about necessities vs luxuries last week, and while discussing the most important things we need to have in our lives, I listed coffee above him. The internet may have come in above him also. Whoops.

But while I indulge in cup after cup of coffee, am I thinking about what it took to get that coffee into my mug? Of course I’m not; but I should be and you should be too because it is really an interesting process that has to happen to get everyone’s caffeine fixes met.

Check out the infographic below that tells the whole story of where coffee comes from: planting, cultivating, harvesting, processing, milling, exporting, inspecting, roasting, grinding, brewing, and enjoying.
