Bristol Palin Gives Birth to Baby Boy

Bristol Palin Gives Birth to Baby Boy

Bristol Palin, the daughter of former (thank. goodness.) Republican vice-presidential candidate, Sarah Palin gave birth to a healthy, 7lb. 7oz. baby boy on Saturday at 5:30am. The baby’s name is Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston.

Sarah Palin first released news of Bristol’s pregnancy after she was “tapped on the shoulder” to run for office with former Republican presidential nominee John McCain at a convenient time while rebutting rumors about a cover up of her own pregnancy.

On Monday, Bill McAllister, a spokesman for Gov. Palin said, “This office will not be issuing any statements on [Bristol's baby]. We’re here to talk about state government and that matter falls outside of that.”

And because politicians and their families are treated by people as well as the media as celebrities, baby pictures of Tripp are …

Family of Wal-Mart Employee Sues over Black Friday Death

Family of Wal-Mart Employee Sues over Black Friday Death

The shopping conditions of “Black Friday” can most definitely be described as nothing less than chaotic and this past Black Friday can be described just the same; however, there was an altercation on that morning that does differ from previous years and that is the fact that a 34 year old seasonal Wal-Mart worker in New York was trampled to death by a stampede of discount-seeking shoppers.

Most recently, the family of the Wal-Mart worker, Jdimytai Damour, has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Wal-Mart, claiming that Wal-Mart “created an atmosphere of competition and anxiety” that led to “crowd craze.” In the lawsuit the family argues that Wal-Mart “engaged in specific marketing and advertising techniques to specifically attract a large crowd and create an environment of frenzy and mayhem and was otherwise careless, reckless and negligent.”

Do …

Circuit City Files for Bankruptcy

Circuit City Files for Bankruptcy

Circuit City has been making significant changes as of late to ward off their financial instability, but even after closing 155 retail stores across the country and announcing plans to cut approximately 17% of their 43,000 employees, Circuit City’s financial matters did not lighten up a bit and they were recently forced to file for bankruptcy.

Due to pressure from Best Buy and Wal-Mart, Circuit City’s future is unclear and Best Buy, in their attempts to further drive away all other competitive markets, reportedly stated that they may take over Circuit City stores that were forced to close.

I wonder what happens if they were to do that in areas such as mine where Best Buy and Circuit City are a mere hop, skip and a jump away from each other. Come to think of it, …

Time for Change: Get Marijuana Law Reform on the Agenda!

Time for Change: Get Marijuana Law Reform on the Agenda!

After all the victories we’ve seen in the realm of marijuana law reform and the recent election, it is now time to act! According to the NORML blog, “The election of Barack Obama, coupled with Democrat control of both the House and the Senate, presents a unique and critical opportunity for federal marijuana law reform.” A vast majority of you voted to change the laws regarding marijuana arrests; now is the time to make sure your vote doesn’t go unnoticed.

Obama’s transition team has established a website recently with an agenda of things to be addressed once Obama is in office. Looking at the current list, I was upset to see that Marijuana Law Reform is not even mentioned. Thankfully, the website has a page asking for OUR ideas to help solve challenges facing our country.

That means it’s up to …

Barack Obama Elected 44th President of the United States

Barack Obama Elected 44th President of the United States

Barack Obama has made history in America last night and became the 44th president of the United States, the first of which who is an African American man. Not only did Obama make history, but we, the American citizens did as well. During this election season we have seen more active participants and volunteers give their valued and precious time to a political candidate that they believe in and those people encouraged, motivated and inspired their friends, neighbors, friends of friends and perhaps even complete strangers to get out and vote–and that they did. The sheer amount of people who voted in this election have been uplifting and have made change a present part of our American government.

After John McCain conceded in Arizona, Barack Obama gave his victory speech in Grant Park to an audience of thousands and also to …

Make Every Serving Count with V8

Make Every Serving Count with V8

While the financial crisis in the US is causing people to lose or be laid off from their jobs, stay at home more frequently due to gas prices, cut back on splurging and shopping more frugally and also causing people to cut back a bit on the upcoming holiday expenses, some people have been feeling a slight cut back to their financial futures and others have been far less fortunate, slipping into poverty and the already poverty-stricken continuing to be worse off than before. For more than 35 million Americans, the possibility of being without food and not knowing where their next meal is coming from is an unfortunate and constant reality. It is for that reason that V8 has recently partnered with Feeding America to donate over 30 million servings of fresh vegetables to local food banks throughout …
