Guantanamo Bay to Close in the Next Year
Guantanamo Bay prison is famous for the crime that is conducted there by the United States. It is widely known not by what it is, but what goes on there and has been criticized around the world as violating US and international detainee rights, which is very apparent since an estimated 245 men are being held at the US naval base in Cuba, most of whom have been held there for years without being charged with a crime.
President Obama is hard at work, reversing the policies that the Bush Administration have set up, including closing Guantanamo Bay for good within one years time. Obama also has executive orders to review military trials of terror suspects and to end harsh interrogations.
A draft copy of the order to close Guantanamo was obtained by The Associated Press and is quoted …
Watch the Inauguration Live
I have been watching live inaugural coverage since early this morning and if one thing is apparent, it is the fact that so many Americans, even those who have not exactly felt like Americans have traveled to Washington, DC, viewing parties all over the country and tuning in online to see the 44th president of the United States inaugurated.
This is not only a historic moment for America, but for all of us.
Watch live inaugural coverage brought to you by MSNBC.

President Bush’s “Ultimate Exit Interview”
After eight long, depressing and disappointing years, George Bush’s final days are among us and as far as I’m concerned, the next five days cannot come fast enough.
On January 12, George Bush conducted his final official press conference, where he repeatedly defended the time he spent in the White House and the choices he made during his presidency. Like most of Bush’s speaking engagements, his “Ultimate Exit Interview” was filled with memorable quips and lines.
We have all seen countless videos and read countless stories about how America is now viewed in a dim light by countries and people overseas. George Bush and his many cronies can spew lies about how “America stands for freedom” all they like, but the truth still remains–America likes to work as the world’s police, but only when it is convenient for America; when we have something to …
The Only Time Sarah Palin will Come Out on Top Over Oprah
In a recent poll conducted by real estate website Zillow.com during December 15-17, Sarah Palin is the most desirable celebrity neighbor as polled by 2,196 Americans over the age of 18.
I am willing to bet that this is perhaps the only poll where former Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin would come out on top over Oprah.
First of all, who thinks that politicians obtaining “celebrity status” is a little weird? Politicians are either in a seat or fighting for a seat in order to make and enforce laws and regulations in this country; they are in place to make this country better and here we are treating them like movie stars who need bodyguards due to the amount of paparazzi after them trying to snap a few good photos and who we model …
Should “So Help Me God” be Banned?
Should Barack Obama leave “so help me God” out of the end of the president’s oath of office during his inauguration on January 20? A number of atheists and non-religious organizations think so and even went as far as to file a lawsuit Tuesday banning the words. In addition, the lawsuit also objects to plans for ministers to deliver an invocation and benediction, knowing that they will discuss God and religion.
As a president who has fought for the past two years for real change to come to America, will Barack Obama voice his support and acceptance for the non-religious community? Do we perhaps have the opportunity to change “freedom of religion” to “freedom from religion?” I highly doubt it. Not only were two similar unsuccessful lawsuits filed for the 2001 and 2005 …
Bristol Palin Gives Birth to Baby Boy
Bristol Palin, the daughter of former (thank. goodness.) Republican vice-presidential candidate, Sarah Palin gave birth to a healthy, 7lb. 7oz. baby boy on Saturday at 5:30am. The baby’s name is Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston.
Sarah Palin first released news of Bristol’s pregnancy after she was “tapped on the shoulder” to run for office with former Republican presidential nominee John McCain at a convenient time while rebutting rumors about a cover up of her own pregnancy.
On Monday, Bill McAllister, a spokesman for Gov. Palin said, “This office will not be issuing any statements on [Bristol's baby]. We’re here to talk about state government and that matter falls outside of that.”
And because politicians and their families are treated by people as well as the media as celebrities, baby pictures of Tripp are …
