If people are looking for the next great coffee experience, don’t look at Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts. From out of Seattle a new coffee company is making quite a splash, “North Star Fine Coffees.”

I read about them in a local press release; tried their coffee and OH, MY GOD! This … is real Seattle style coffee. Rich, robust, smooth and full of complexities that made my taste buds dance with delight!

Dunkin Donuts have tried at least 3 times that I remember (past 20 years) to break into the market in my country. And three times fail.
Starbucks as well has closed about 90% of their stores here.
The reason both have failed – really, really poor coffee and with Starbucks I can also add horrible service.
There are many great coffee stores around, no-one needs to buy their poor quality, mass market coffee.

Making good coffee isn’t exactly rocket science – I am only surprised it took popularity of Startbucks to push DD and McD to make better coffee!

I totally miss DD – we don’t have it out here in LA. SB coffee is best when brewed at home -they always seem to burn theirs. Better to get American’s or other espresso drinks at SB rather than regular brew…yes, I think about coffee a lot.

I really dont think that starbucks has that good of a regular coffee blend. Starbucks is better for blended and specialty drinks like frapuchinos.

I agree that Dunkin Donuts coffee is better. I think Starbucks is overrated.

Where I live (SF Bay Area) there haven’t been a DD in almost twenty years, but I have heard that people do prefer DD over Starbucks. I prefer almost any coffee; fair trade, organic from independent shops over a national (actually worldwide) chain any day! I just dont think Starbucks has good coffee.
