Google PageRank Updates

Google PageRank Late last night Google nearly gave me a heart attack. Because I’m a little crazy when it comes to website stats I have a Google PageRank toolbar attached to my Firefox and while simply going through new comments and checking out some random websites I noticed my toolbar go up to a number…and stay there. To make sure I wasn’t officially going insane, I closed out my entire browser and restarted it just to make sure that the toolbar wasn’t stuck at a number from a previous website I had been on. To my very (pleasantly) surprised eyes, I was right–Google PageRank had updated!

After doing some surfing around I noticed that Google has given quite a bit of people higher PageRank. Are they suddenly becoming a little more lenient or are they getting all of our hopes up in order to smash us back down to 0 by next update?

Whatever the case, congratulations to everyone whose PageRank went up–Woman Tribune has went from PR 2 to PR 4, so we’re quite happy around these parts.

My 2 newest blogs which I started in Jan. both got a PR3. My other blogs which were penalized by the great google for doing paid posts are still sitting on 0

    My site didn’t change. I’m still a 3.

While I enjoy making money online, I honestly don’t care much about the PR’s. I would probably become so obsessed by it that nothing else would matter. I don’t even know what my PR is, but it’s most likely not very good.

I’ve never really used Google Page Rank, and don’t really find the need for it, but it seems really popular, I might have to check it out. I’m glad that it updated for you, must have been a scare!

    Congratulations on your new ranking!

I’m just learning about this myself. My friend was explaining how this all works less than 2 weeks ago. I had no idea of all the things that were involved.

    Best Wishes for the future!

I didn’t even know what that was up there on the menu bar. Now I’m curious!

Page rank is just one of the factors google takes into account in ranking your website. It is dependent on how many backlinks of value you have.

Congrats on the bump up from PR2 to PR4…one thing I have discovered is that there are several factors that go into how “the big G” ranks pages, but inbound links seems to trump everything else when determining pagerank. At any rate, I know how you feel about checking website stats…I’m almost “OCD” with that stuff (LOL).

Congratulations on the PR increase. I had a blog go from 0 to PR3, so I was quite happy. I agree with the others that PR doesn’t mean much unless you are selling links or your site. Of course, there’s no telling what will happen on the next one, which is probably due soon.
