Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration Lotion Sunscreen

With summer comes more time spent outside than during any other time of the year, and as great as the sun may feel as you head out to enjoy popular outdoor activities like swimming and sports, as well as the outdoor entertaining you may do, it’s important to avoid overexposure to sunlight and to protect your skin whenever you are outside. We know that the sun’s UVA/UVB rays can have really dangerous effects on our skin and eyes, and is also a major cause of skin cancer, but even an hour spent in the sun can dry out our skin. Personally speaking, I get uncomfortable and even painful dry patches of skin all over my body whenever the weather changes. Using a good lotion or moisturizer is a must to keep your skin healthy and vibrant, but also having to pile on the sunscreen every time you go out in the sun can quickly turn into a lot of stuff being absorbed into your skin.

I recently received the Summer Beauty VoxBox from Influenster, an awesome community I have written about before. Included in the box was a sample of the new Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration Lotion Sunscreen. Hawaiian Tropic has long been trusted as a reliable and safe sunscreen, but this new formula not only includes broad spectrum SPF 30 sun protection, it also has hydrating ribbons that keep your skin moisturized for 12 hours.

I was really impressed with Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration Lotion Sunscreen. It’s an incredibly light, creamy lotion that applies smooth and evenly without being sticky. While it is non-greasy, shortly after I applied it, my skin did look a little oily; however, this quickly faded as it had time to absorb. Afterwards, all I could focus on was the intoxicating, tropical scent of coconut and pina colada. Seriously, this sunscreen smells amazing. On one particularly hot and humid day, my fiance’s mother was here along with my stepdaughters so everyone could utilize the pool in our backyard. When I went outside after putting this sunscreen on, my fiance’s mother quickly noticed the scent and commented on how great it was. She tried it out for herself, and by that time, there was a crowd of hands reaching for the sunscreen bottle. Even later that day, there was still talk about how nice everyone’s skin smelled. Hawaiian Tropic has made the act of putting on sunscreen exciting, which is pretty much an accomplishment in itself.

I have used Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration Lotion Sunscreen on several occasions, and I have yet to get even a hint of sunburn while wearing it. The SPF 30 has held up phenomenally every time, even while outside for hours at a time and while swimming. On that note, much like other sunscreens, Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration Lotion Sunscreen is water-resistant, but only for up to 80 minutes, so I am always sure to reapply, especially if I have jumped into the pool. Another great aspect of this sunscreen is that while I have very sensitive and fickle skin that is prone to frequent breakouts, this has not irritated my skin one bit. There have been no new breakouts, and it has kept my skin hydrated and protected, just as it is supposed to.

Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration Lotion Sunscreen is available at most major retailers for a suggested retail price of $8.99 for a 6oz bottle. It is available in SPF 12, 30, and 50, and provides broad spectrum UVA and UVB sun protection. It is also recommended as an effective UV sunscreen for daily use by the Skin Cancer Foundation.

I received Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration Lotion Sunscreen in my Summer Beauty VoxBox for review due to my participation in the Influenster community. No other compensation was received, and opinions are my own. You can sign up for an Influenster account here.
