A poster above mentioned home automation – though not in an especially coherent way – and I just thought I would try to make a slightly less keyword-intensive(!) case. Home automation has tons of benefits, but I think that the one to really look at is that smart homes = environmentally friendly construction. The ability to remotely control your appliances, lights, thermostat, etc. means that you can save money on power while helping the environment by reducing your carbon footprint at the same time.
It is cool (and maybe a little geeky) and beneficial at the same time.

Our bathroom needs to be remodeled in the worst way! My husband quit smoking a year ago, but we are still trying to get the nicotine stains off the walls! Since the bathroom had an exhaust fan, it was the only room he smoked in. We have paint at the ready, but we want to make sure the nicotine won’t bleed through. The bathroom is a room that’s used a lot each day and should be as pleasant as possible.
