Hyped for Hype

I am an energy drink enthusiast, to say the least. I blame my grandmother, giving me my first small mug of coffee at an early age because I wouldn’t stop asking what it was she was drinking all the time. From that point on, I grew up thinking that coffee was treat in some way because I was only given small mugs and after a lot–A LOT–of diligent pleading. As an adult, I now drink a pot or two of coffee a day mixed with whatever energy drink strikes me at the local store that particular moment; Starbucks Doubleshot and Monster Energy are the brands I most frequently purchase and Monster almost always wins because of their “BFC” and I’ll let you figure out what that means on your own.

Hype I recently came across Hype Energy, an energy drink that was first launched in 1994 and according to the FDA, is one of the strongest energy drinks on the market with its levels of Ginseng, Guarana, Taurine and Caffeine reaching the absolute legal limits.

There are three different Hype products, each with their own distinctive design, color and most of all, flavor–The original Hype Energy, MFP and Enlite, launched in 2007. Hype is full of vitamins B12, B6 and B3, and while it’s great that we are consuming a good amount of vitamins from something like an energy drink, the original Hype and MFP have quite the acquired taste. After my first sip of both, I immediately said that it tasted like a daily vitamin left in your mouth a little too long, which is why out of the three, I have to say that Hype Enlite gives you the most satisfying overall experience. Firstly, the can is gorgeous. If there is one energy drink can that is going to stand out in the cooler, mixed with all of the different energy drinks coming out from different companies, it is Enlite. The can is pink and is covered in a subtle, but classy design and even the liquid itself is pink in color. Enlite also has a great taste; as someone who has tried most of the energy drinks currently on the market, Enlite has one of the best tastes I’ve come across and while it contains a great amount of vitamins, it does not taste like a giant daily vitamin, which of course, is great.

If you’re a fan of energy drinks or even if you’ve never picked up an energy drink before but either love coffee or noticed you need that little pick me up during the afternoons, Hype is a great choice; you will start feeling more energized before you even finish the can, and at only 25 calories you can’t go wrong.

I can’t drink anything stronger than black tea and dry red wine – feel the crazy heartbeat immediately… it is scary and unpleasant… I don’t know why it is so with me, none of my friends react the same way:(
