ipsy May 2015 Glam Bag Review

ipsy May 2015 Glam Bag

I suppose that since my ipsy June Glam Bag has arrived and I’ve already begun dipping into it to create new looks that I should probably get around to putting up my review of the bag that came before it.

This review is later than late, but I still wanted to get it up because the ipsy May 2015 Glam Bag is a great representation of the products you can expect to receive when you become an ipsy subscriber.

Urban Decay Revolution High-Color Lipgloss

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on Lip Pencil

Urban Decay 24-7 Glide-on Lip Pencil + BONUS Revolution High Color Lipgloss: Usually, ipsy will email subscribers with a sneak peek of one of the items they will receive in their upcoming Glam Bag. For the month of May, however, subscribers were shown three products, one of which would definitely be showing up in their bags. I was completely overjoyed with the product I received.

The Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-in Lip Pencil was a product that I absolutely needed, and now I need the full-size version. Believe it or not, I have never used lip primer before. The concept of primer in general is completely new to me, but I couldn’t believe the world of difference this made in my lip color! This colorless (Ozone) matte primer glides on easily to fill in cracks and fine lines, prevent feathering, and hold lip color in place.

I scored an awesome ipsy deal back in April for the Bonita Cosmetics Lips & Tips Set. For just $8 (+ free shipping) I got two nail polishes and two lip creams. I was so excited for these lip creams, a casual nude pink and a dramatic hot pink, both of which glided on my lips and nearly instantly turned into a hot mess. You could see every line and crack in my lips and it wasn’t pretty. Then I tried them with this lip primer, and just like that my lip color was perfect. Let that be a lesson to you — always prime first. The more you know, right?

Along with the Glide-on Lip Pencil were two samples of the new Urban Decay Revolution High Color Lipgloss in Failbait, a light neutral pink, and the bright purple Bittersweet. I really wasn’t happy with the Revolution Lipgloss, especially the Failbait shade that was so muted you really had to look to see if I even had lip color on. Even worse, they are unbelievably sticky. Even after a full day of wear, I kissed my fiance before I went to take off my makeup and settle in for the night and he pulled away asking why he was sticking to me. Yikes.

Briogeo Rosarco Milk Reparative Leave-In Conditioning Spray

Briogeo Rosarco Milk Reparative Leave-In Conditioning Spray: There was once a time when I had beautiful, thick, healthy hair. I just left it alone, washed and conditioned it regularly, and raked in the compliments. As I’ve gotten older, though, my hair has thinned and continued to become more and more lifeless. It’s just there. Meh. The Briogeo Rosarco Milk Reparative Leave-In Conditioning Spray enhances dry, breaking, dull, and/or lifeless hair with shine, softness, and manageability. It helps protect hair from UV and free radical damage, reduces frizz, and hydrates hair to leave it smooth and healthy looking. I really get a lot of use out of this spray as a heat protectant before blow drying or using a hair straightener.

BellaPierre Cosmetics Waterproof Mineral Gel Eyeliner Pencil

BellaPierre Cosmetics Waterproof Mineral Gel Eyeliner Pencil: A cat eye that will last all day? Yes, really! Formulated with pure minerals, natural waxes, and antioxidants for a hypoallergenic eyeliner that is safe for all skin types, the BellaPierre Cosmetics Waterproof Mineral Gel Eyeliner Pencil is downright impressive in creating clean lines with amazing coverage that will last all day, rain or shine.

Luxie Beauty Tapered Blending Eye Brush 205

Luxie Beauty Tapered Blending Eye Brush 205: Did I need another brush? No. Am I glad I received this one? Yes. Yes I am. The Luxie Beauty Tapered Blending Eye Brush 205 is a high quality synthetic bristle brush that offers even application to the entire eyelid. What makes it truly special is that it is coated with a revolutionary antibacterial solution so that no product absorbs into the bristles or goes to waste. This also means that this brush will stay clean longer than most any other brush in your collection, cutting down on the need for cleaning your brush as often.

Fun fact: This brush retails for $12 all on its own, while ipsy is just $10/month. Talk about getting your money’s worth.

Amie Morning Dew Matte-Finish Moisturizer

Amie Morning Dew Matte-Finish Moisturizer: This is easily one of the better moisturizers I have used. Amie Morning Dew Matte-Finish Moisturizer is a perfect base for daily makeup as it controls oiliness and shine while hydrating and softening the skin. Made for all skin types, it is made from 90.8% natural ingredients and is totally mineral oil- and paraben-free. As an added bonus, it smells amazing!

If you aren’t an ipsy subscriber, you can get your monthly Glam Bag filled with deluxe samples and full-size beauty products for $10/month (+ $4.95 shipping in Canada).

  1. Do they have a hypoallergenic option? I’m allergic to several makeup ingredients. Of the products you show, I’d be most interested in the hair treatment — my hair has gotten brittle this summer. Not sure why, either!

  2. This is an awesome glamour bag indeed. I have heard to much about Ipsy before but I am definitely checking this out. I love that the price of your monthly bags is $10 + shipping and handling. The eyeliner and the lip gloss are the two things I would totally love. Thanks for sharing.

  3. Everything looks great. I think I like the BellaPierre Cosmetics Waterproof Mineral Gel Eyeliner Pencil.

  4. My wife would surely like this box, I’m not at this coz I’m a boy but thanks for the idea , I would buy this for her gift

  5. I like that eye brush a lot. I’ve never tried anything like that, and I actually need all new brushes now anyhow. What a fun collection!
