I received Tastykake Kandy Bar Kakes from Influenster for review. No other incentive was provided and opinions are my own.
I have been experiencing some intense, often conflicting cravings lately. Intenssseeee. We can all relate, right? A certain time of year comes around and suddenly the insatiable cravings of the season begin. In the fall, it’s everything pumpkin for me, and during the summer — well, this summer, at least — it is fish (caught in a local, natural lake by a friend of my family’s that I have been eating since I was a child) and chocolate. Stop making that face at your screen. You look silly and I told you my cravings often conflict one another. You were warned.
While settling down for some much-needed relaxation after being up late working on work-type things, the ever-persistent chocolate craving I have had so often and so intensely lately that I should probably be used to it by now kicked into high gear. I needed chocolate. Glorious, sweet chocolate that I did not have to bake myself. That part was really key, because while I love to bake, baking takes time and time is not something I have when my brain has decided my body needs something Right. That. Minute. I should probably also mention that I have low blood sugar and if I didn’t have enough complex sugars that day, I crave sweets like nobody’s business.
I practically ran to the kitchen hen I remembered that a single s’mores-flavored Tastykake Kandy Bar Kake had been included in my Influenster Spring VoxBox

I’m from Pennsylvania, and we practically worship Tastykake® here. I think we always have. My grandmother always had Butterscotch Krimpets in her kitchen when I was growing up. So I was pretty thrilled to get to try the s’mores-flavored Tastykake Kandy Bar Kake because it’s summer, and what says summer quite like something s’mores-flavored?
To achieve that taste, the s’mores Tastykake Kandy Bar Kake is a graham cracker-flavored cake with a layer of marshmallow creme stuck in between the layers, covered with chocolate and dusted with sugary powder.
Tastykake Kandy Bar Kakes are about an inch tall and four inches long, making it a pretty decent sized-treat, but not big enough to not make you wonder how Tastykake was able to pack something so small with so many calories — 260 of them, to be exact. It also contains 11 grams of fat (7 grams of saturated fat), 20 milligrams of cholesterol, 150 milligrams of sodium, and 25 grams of sugar. But here’s the thing about new Tastykake Kandy Bar Kakes… they are delicious — and bad for you. Deliciously bad for you, if you will. But come on, who has ever picked up a box of Tastykake Kakes and thought, “Yep, this is a nutritious and wholesome snack if I’ve ever seen one”? When it comes to overly-processed, chemical-laden treats, we know what we’re getting, and what I got was a sweet reprieve from my almost incessant chocolate cravings.
Remember folks, moderation is key.
That is definitely mouth watering. Now I am hungry again even if I just ate a few minutes ago.
