PACE Dr. Al Sears, M.D. is an ACE-Certified Fitness Trainer, Certified Nutrition Specialist and an author of 14 books on health and wellness. In his most recent book, P.A.C.E. The 12-Minute Fitness Revolution, Dr. Sears disputes modern exercise advice we’ve all gotten before from several different sources and that advice has become the norm. Luckily Dr. Sears saw this tradition of bad advice going around and not only took it upon himself to dispute it, but he also proved how and why his own method of exercising works–the same advice he gives his very own patients–and made it available to the public.

Dr. Sears’s PACE program is based on exercising in short bursts of high intensity to burn fat and keep it off. Just after reading his guest article published here on Woman Tribune, I was astounded to find out how and when we really burn fat and that when you do long-durations of cardio and marathon running, you are actually hurting your heart and lungs.

  1. Wow, I just read Dr. Sears’ article and I had no idea about any of this. I often walk for exercise so I will now try to change the way I do it. Fascinating.

  11. This workout sounds a lot like the circuit training where you walk for two minutes and then run one minute. It works brilliantly and you can really burn the fat going that route.

  12. Mainly I go on walks and twice a week a more active exercise. I have many audio tapes, DVD’s and VHS exercises of all types. This giveaway would be a welcome addition to my collection.

  14. I want this book because most of my life I was no bigger than a size 7 and under until the last 10 years after I had my 3rd child and then went on meds right after the birth weight gain. I am a smoker and I winded up keeping the fat in the worst place my stomach. I am now because of the stomach a size 3x. For a lot of years i was a size 3…..I cannot do more than walk because I am so overweight and a big time smoker. I am in heffer mode. So I need to start somewhere and stop eating the fat cakes as well…lol

  15. I am about to turn thirty, and I do not want my metabolism to slow down, so I want to start exercising. I stay at home with my 1 and 3 year old and do not have much time. A 12 minute revolution is just what I need.
