L'Oreal Paris Revitalift Miracle Blur

As spring settles in and we begin to spend more and more time outdoors after being sequestered inside while winter did its terrible, below-freezing thing for months on end, we are at a higher risk of our skin spending a little too much quality time with the sun. We all know that it is important to protect our skin from the harmful rays of the sun during the summer months, but it is just as important during the spring; especially when you take into account that having the chance to spend so much time outdoors is something we haven’t been used to doing throughout the past several months and we can easily forget to apply sunblock before running out the door.

Having sensitive skin, I have to be cautious of what and how much I put into my skin. Going through my cosmetics bag and looking at the products I use on a daily basis, it’s really easy to rack up a laundry list of chemicals I apply everyday. So when I come across a product that can easily work into my daily skincare and beauty regimen that does double-duty as a sunscreen, I’m pretty happy — and that is what L’Oreal Paris Revitalift Miracle Blur aims to do.

The packaging of the product is confusing, to say the least. At one point it’s a sunscreen, then it’s a finishing cream, then it’s an anti-wrinkle cream. There is just way too much going on, and if I didn’t do a little reading up on the product before receiving it (and then again after it arrived) I wouldn’t have the slightest clue how to use it properly. I can see a lot of women being confused while trying to decide if it is a product that is worth working into their daily beauty regimen.

Touted as the “30 Second Miracle,” L’Oreal Paris Revitalift Miracle Blur is more of a primer than anything else. It is meant to be applied after moisturizer, and when blended smoothly and evenly into your skin, it is said to instantly erase the look of wrinkles, lines, and pores. When worn alone, it should give your face a flawless matte finish, or you can wear it under foundation to make your cosmetics look more evenly applied. All of this, and the Revitalift Miracle Blur also works as a broad spectrum SPF 30 sunscreen, which is a huge plus. No more forgetting to put on sunscreen before heading out for the day.

The texture of this product is thick. Really thick. Ideally, you want to use only a pea- to a dime-sized dollop for your entire face, being very careful not to use too much. After a week of using this product nearly everyday, I have gone through quite a trial and error process with this product. Using even just a little more than recommended can make your entire face feel heavy — and that’s without even applying the rest of your makeup.

Used alone, I am not a big fan of this product. Regardless of how much I rubbed it in, it never felt like it had fully absorbed; instead it felt incomplete and very greasy. The first day I used it, I literally walked around all day rubbing my face because I was convinced it needed to be rubbed in more. It was just uncomfortable.

Wearing it under my regular daily makeup was a much better experience, although it still felt greasy. The product filled in the deep pores I have, especially around my nose, and my foundation went on much smoother.

I have noticed that this product has made my face a lot smoother and softer than it is normally. I just don’t know if the trade-off is worth it to me: softer skin and a smoother foundation application in exchange for walking around with the uncontrollable urge to rub my face because the greasiness and heaviness of the product is just too much for me?

Considering the price tag for a 1.18oz tube of L’Oreal Paris Revitalift Miracle Blur is $24.99 (although it can be found for about $20 at many drugstore retailers), it isn’t a product that I would choose to purchase. I would rather invest in a really great moisturizer that could give me the same softer, smoother skin without the greasiness or heaviness I experienced with this product.

  1. I can’t live without my Estee Lauder Idealist pore minimizing skin refinisher….I use it on the EXEPTIONALLY large pores in my “T zone”, and I can wear fuundation without having it show brighter on my nose !!!

  2. I purchased Miracle Blur last month and now it is a product that I wouldn’t want to be without! It really does work to minimize pores. You are right that it goes on a little heavy, but that feeling doesn’t bother me.

  3. Mascara. I’m a ginger, and my eyelashes are naturally that creepy pale red colour… if I don’t put mascara on, I look like a daywalker.

  4. The only thing I can think of in terms of beauty products that I can’t really live without would be plain ol’ soap. Everything else can be foregone, but I’d like to keep some soap around at least.

  5. No question, it would DEFINITELY be my eyebrow liner (I have blonde-and therefore invisible-eyebrows)!

  6. I cant live without my Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit face wipes! I just love the smell of them! Wakes me up every morning!

  7. So many, but I guess mascara would be number one if I HAD to pick… but also definitely shampoo and conditioner, bronzer, foundation, lip balm, body butter… yeah I like products!

  8. I learned that moisturizer and sunscreen are a must. If they are combined, I am in heaven! I do not go without a good moisturizer. It is a morning and evening must! 🙂 Thank you for the opportunity.

  9. I can’t live without babylips and its a 10 leave in hair product! It makes my hair so soft and shiny and its a great heat protectant for the abuse I inflict on my hair lol

  10. Can’t do without my moisturizer, especially since getting older and during these colder months.
