March 8th was International Women’s Day
International Women’s Day was yesterday. International Women’s Day has been observed since the 1900′s, which was a time of great expansion and turbulence in the world that saw booming growth as well as the rise of radical ideologies. It has grown to become a global day of recognition and celebration across developed and also developing countries alike. Women’s organizations and governments around the world have observed International Women’s Day annually on March 8th by holding events and women have observed this day in their own way, by knowing and celebrating the power they have by being female. International Women’s Day reminds us women of the continued vigilance and action required to ensure that women’s equality is gained and maintained in all aspects of life.
If you didn’t know about International Women’s Day before now, that’s fine because as women, we don’t need a day to celebrate ourselves or the rights we have that other women have and continue to fight for today.
I also wanted to share that I was interviewed for this year’s International Women’s Day because of the other blog I write for, Menstrual Poetry where I talk about feminism, my feminism, what it’s like to be a feminist, and the activism I do for women and human equality. You can read that interview here.

It is true that women do not need a day to celebrate themselves but international women’s day is a platform and a means to bring forth women related issues
