Saffron Road Crunchy Chickpeas

Over the last couple of weeks spring has really kicked it into high gear and so have I. May has hands down been the most productive month of my last few years on the homestead front. The amount of spring cleaning that has taken place inside and out undoubtedly exceeded manic proportions. I have also been working out and paying close attention to what I’m putting in my body, which has really done wonders for my energy level.

For lunch most days I cut up a few veggies and make a salad, but anyone who eats salads frequently knows that they can get boring fast. You can only mix and match vegetables and fruit so many ways, and there are only so many things you can practically put in a salad to mix things up.

Saffron Road Crunchy Chickpeas detail

Chickpeas have been a frequent salad add-in of mine, but I have always eaten them in their natural state or in hummus. Saffron Road has changed up how I enjoy my chickpeas with their line of low-fat, protein-rich organic Crunchy Chickpeas, of which they have added two new flavors to their line — Korean BBQ and Chipotle.

The Korean BBQ Crunchy Chickpeas contain the perfect combination of sweet and spicy flavoring with Korean bulgogi marinade: soy sauce, pear juice, sesame oil, garlic, and red pepper. The Chipotle flavor is made with patience by smoking dry jalapeno peppers that deliver a kick of Mexican heat with each bite. They are truly the perfect guilt-free snacking solution that is absolutely packed with flavor.

I have been enjoying Saffron Road’s Crunchy Chickpeas, and there is a reason why I think they are your new favorite salad add-in rather than an out-of-the-bag snack. They are unfortunately very, very dry. I attempted to eat them on their own while watching television one night, but was left attempting to cough up the crunchy seasoned chickpea pieces that were grating the inside of my throat. Light dressing on a salad gives them the moisture they need to make them easier to enjoy.

Saffron Road was founded to serve the need of a halal food brand that embodied ethical consumerism. They are a brand dedicated to halal, sustainability, all-natural, antibiotic-free and 100% vegetarian-fed, and harvested on family-owned farms. Their Crunchy Chickpeas are Non-GMO Project verified and deliver an international snacking staple to American tables, dashboards, and backpacks nationwide.

Saffron Road has 8 product lines, including frozen entrees, broths and sauces, and even mini tarts and hors d’oeuvres. Visit the Saffron Road store locator to find where product lines are sold near you.

  1. That Moroccan Lamb Stew looks delicious but I’d really like to try the Chocolate Coconut Cheesecake mini tartes!! I agree that the chickpeas would be better off in a salad-although I do love chickpeas-just throw them in bowl with some salt & pepper-not sure I would want to snack on crunchy ones.

  2. I heard that these dried or baked are a really great snack! They are super healthy and cheap to “make ” on your own too and even make your own hummus varieties and pita chips !

  3. All of the crunchy chickpea flavors sound delicious but I think I am even more interested in their turkish fig and goat cheese appetizer.

  4. They have many interesting products. I’d like to try their Korean Stir Fry and Korma Simmer Sauces.
