Over the last couple of weeks spring has really kicked it into high gear and so have I. May has hands down been the most productive month of my last few years on the homestead front. The amount of spring cleaning that has taken place inside and out undoubtedly exceeded manic proportions. I have also been working out and paying close attention to what I’m putting in my body, which has really done wonders for my energy level.
For lunch most days I cut up a few veggies and make a salad, but anyone who eats salads frequently knows that they can get boring fast. You can only mix and match vegetables and fruit so many ways and there are only so many things you can practically put in a salad to mix things up a little from time to time. So when I find something I like I get pretty eager to share.

I love me some chickpeas. When I was very young my grandmother brought me to all sorts of restaurants, many of which had a salad bar. I treated this as my literal buffet of new and exciting things to try. Through this exploration phase I discovered that I quite enjoy chickpeas and can easily eat multiple plates of them. They have been a fairly regular salad add-in ever since.
Saffron Road switched up how I enjoy my chickpeas with their line of low-fat, protein-rich organic Crunchy Chickpeas.
The Korean BBQ Crunchy Chickpeas contain the perfect combination of sweet and spicy flavoring. The organic chickpeas combine with a Korean bulgogi marinade, which consists of soy sauce, pear juice, sesame oil, garlic, and red pepper to create a powerful taste.

I have really enjoyed Saffron Road’s Crunchy Chickpeas, but there’s a reason why I think they are your new favorite salad add-in and not your new favorite snack you can eat by the handful. In fact, I did attempt to snack on them a few at a time while watching one of my favorite shows on television one night. It didn’t take long before something went down the wrong way and I was left attempting to cough up the crunchy seasoned chickpea pieces that were grating the inside of my throat as if it were warm cheese.
Saffron Road’s Crunchy Chickpeas are very, very dry. But this drawback is what makes them really great salad add-ins. The light dressing on a salad lends just the right amount of moisture to the Crunchy Chickpeas and makes them easier to eat and much more enjoyable.
