Where Will You be Picking Up Your iPhone 4?

iPhone 4

The iPhone 4 will hit the shelves on June 24th and just about every Apple junkie is counting down the days, hours and minutes until they can finally hold it in their hands and call it their own.

If you pre-ordered your iPhone 4, Apple has good news for you — they have separated pre-order customers from the non-pre-order customers, making everything a whole lot less time-consuming for those who thought ahead and wanted to make sure an iPhone 4 would be in their possession as soon as possible. For the rest of you, it’s going to be a very long wait in line the morning of June 24th, you have my sympathies.

While you may think you can just hop in your car and head on down to the nearest store that stock electronics, you should know where the best–and the worst–places to try to score your new iPhone are, so pay attention.

  • Apple Store
Doors to Apple stores will open at 7am and there will be two lines, one for customers with pre-orders and one for non pre-orders so make sure you get in the right line so you don’t waste your morning (or night before) away.
  • AT&T:
Select AT&T stores will also be opening early, so make sure to call their customer service line or your local AT&T store to see if your location is one that is opening its door earlier than usual and also be sure to inquire about their stock of the iPhone 4.
  • Best Buy:
Speaking of the stock a certain store will receive of the iPhone 4, if you plan on hitting up Best Buy, keep in mind that it has been confirmed that they will only have anywhere from 20 to 70 iPhone 4Gs per store, and that is the 16GB version. The 32GB versions will be more rare, with each store only receiving as low as 10. If you have your heart set on a white iPhone, you may not be able to get one at all at Best Buy because while they have been ordered, it’s unclear if they will be received in time for the day of launch.
  • Walmart:
This is the first time Walmart will have a new iPhone on launch day. Most of the Walmart locations open at 8am but if you plan on heading to a 24 hour location, I know from experience that they will sell you products that have a specific launch date as early as 4am. However, because the iPhone 4 is such a big deal, you may want to call your local Walmart and double check.
  • Radio Shack
Radio Shack announced via Twitter that customers could begin pre-ordering their iPhone 4 on June 15th and have been taking orders since. However, there is no real clarity on how many phones they will get in stock for launch day, so only bet on Radio Shack as a last attempt.

I would rather wait and won’t line up in a queue. Pretty soon it will be readily available everywhere. BTW, my past experiences with Walmart were good so i might buy one from there.

Well here in New Zealand the iPhone 4 only arrived last week and launch day was a huge failure. As people lined up overnight at Vodafone & MagnumMac outlets around the country all references to iPhone 4 were pulled from the Vodafone website and customers were told the next morning that the phone would not be sold. Angry customers were told to contact Apple and those that tried were told to contact Vodafone. The phone eventually went on sale later in the day but only in a handful of stores & stock was limited to just 13 handsets per store. Many angry customers later and still no explaination from Apple or Vodafone.

So it looks like I’m waiting.

The iPhone 4 is just released in Malaysia recently and the waiting list is so long. Only three places can get the iPhone 4 here, Maxis, Digi or App store. But most people will go for Maxis because the data plan is cheap and stronger signal.

  • In the UK you can pick up the iPhone 4 from any of the mobile operators – O2, orange, Three, T-mobile & vodafone. You can also get the phone from major retailers like Tesco, Asda & The Carphone Warehouse. The trouble has not bee so much finding a seller promoting the iPhone 4, it has been finding a retailer with iPhone stock….. the Xmas rush as seen the retailers out of phones…. you would have thought Apple could have planned that a bit better.
