There are a number of great luxury brands in the sex toy industry, and among one of the most prominent is LELO, a brand that has created extensive and often awe-inspiring lines of toys for individuals and couples, including intimate massagers, toys for men, accessories, and even body products. By extension, their products typically come with a pretty hefty price tag.
Back in January of 2011, I was really fortunate to be able to review the LELO Ina vibrator. It is still one of my go-to toys; I really enjoy it and it has just been awesome for me. However, if I didn’t have the opportunity to review it then, I would probably still be living life without ever having experienced the Ina, purely because of how much it costs, and that’s sad to even think about. Naturally, when I heard about PicoBong, the newest brand from LELO, it was really refreshing to see and I was immediately excited about it. PicoBong is a line that sits comfortably in the mid-price range of sex toys without sacrificing superior quality–an attribute that should never be overlooked by anyone in the market for a great toy. The PicoBong line is currently made up of 10 waterproof vibrators, and I was recently given the opportunity to try out their Kaya Rabbit Vibe.
I love rabbit-style vibes a lot. They were the first type of vibrator I had experience with as a wee sex toy beginner, besides those extremely anticlimactic plastic vibes that a lot of sex toy retailers give away for free with purchases because they know that they pretty much do nothing and probably have no other way of getting rid of them. Rabbit-style vibrators blew me away in the beginning of my sex toy exploration, and the right one can still do amazing things for me. Needless to say, with every dual stimulating vibrator I try out, I am extremely hopeful, and the same is true about the PicoBong Kaya.
The Kaya Rabbit Vibe has most of the components that make a truly fantastic toy: size, material, style, and a variety of settings.
This vibrator is available in three different colors; in addition to the obligatory and done to death purple and pink hues, it also comes in a very pretty blue, which is the color I chose. It is a respectable size at nearly 8 inches in length, 5 of those inches being insertable, and it is 1 inch in diameter. The shaft and clitoral stimulator arm are made of body-safe, FDA-approved silicone that is incredibly smooth; where a lot of silicone toys have a substantial amount of drag that adds to the level of friction you feel while using it, this vibe is just silky smooth with almost no drag at all, and it doesn’t attract or pick up nearly as much lint and pet hair as most silicone toys tend to do. There are two motors inside this vibrator–one in the shaft and another in the clitoral arm for focused vibrations. The base of the Kaya Rabbit Vibe is made of ABS Plastic and has textured rings that make it easier to grip. Adding texture to the base was a really smart decision because the base is really small and it’s easy to lose your grip on it, especially if you’re a vigorous thruster. This is only intensified if you happen to be using lube (water-based only!) with it because once it gets slippery, it’s easy to begin fumbling all over the place.
Unlike a lot of other rabbit-style vibes out there, the Kaya does not possess any animal-like attributes on either the shaft or the clitoral stimulator arm. I love this! My first rabbit-style vibe was the original Rabbit Habit, and molded on the shaft right under the realistically-shaped head is a tiny face which creeped me out beyond belief. Of course, it’s called the Rabbit Habit for a reason, and the clitoral arm is shaped like a rabbit with two ears that vibrate against your clit. There have been many other variations to this, including butterflies, dolphins, and a host of other animals that make me feel varying degrees of uncomfortable depending on just how large and/or intricate they are.
Just above the base of the Kaya Rabbit Vibe, slightly embedded within the silicone, is the PicoBong logo. On the reverse side are three raised control buttons: a + button which turns the vibrator on and is used to increase vibration speed, a – button which turns the vibrator off and is used to decrease vibration speed, and between them sits an M button which is used to alternate between the 12 unique vibrating and pulsating modes. While the control buttons are low on the shaft of the vibrator, your hand will most likely always be on the textured plastic base during use so the buttons do not accidentally get pressed, changing up your modes or intensity of vibration.
The Kaya takes two AAA batteries, which was pretty much the worst thing to realize when it arrived and I took it out of the matching blue cardboard box it came packaged in. AAA batteries make me sad because more often than not, they mean a severe lack of intensity. While I wouldn’t say this was the case with the Kaya exactly, the intensity of the vibrations and pulsations weren’t impressive. I think it could be a lot better if it utilized AA batteries instead, but the same could be said for most vibrators that take AAA batteries. A set of two batteries lasts up to 2 continuous hours if you keep the vibration speed near the low end, but you’ll use more battery power (and batteries) the higher your settings are.
Overall, the insertable shaft of the Kaya Rabbit Vibe is great. At 5 insertable inches and its slight curve, it was definitely long enough and curved drastically enough to reach my g-spot, which I require in order to have a vaginal orgasm. However, that was the only type of orgasm I could achieve with the Kaya. As I mentioned, I love rabbit-style vibes because of their unique ability to elicit two different types of orgasms–vaginal and clitoral–but the clitoral stimulator arm on the Kaya was pretty much useless for me.
I explained in detail in the review I wrote of the LELO Ina, which is also a rabbit-style vibe, that I really enjoy a lot of pressure on my clit. Not only do I enjoy it, but most of the time I absolutely need it. A lot of people who have had unfavorable experiences with the Ina complain that the clitoral arm is so strong and inflexible that it feels like it is clamping down onto their pelvic bone. That description is what made me so interested in that toy, just to give you an idea of the intensity of pressure we’re talking about here. Yeah. With most clitoral stimulation, whether it’s with a handheld massager or dual-stimulating vibrator such as this, I can usually get the pressure I want by pressing the device harder into myself, but the Kaya’s clitoral arm is so flexible and feels almost pillowy soft, that it really didn’t matter what I did with it, it just wasn’t working for me. This is bound to have better results for people who don’t like or require a lot of pressure, but sadly I am just not one of those people, but I can’t tell you how much I wish I was.
To clean the Kaya, simply use warm water and an all-natural soap or designated toy cleaner. It is completely waterproof and submersible, so you can run it easily under warm water without worry or clean it off in the shower or bathtub if you want to use it in water. Simply pat it dry with a towel and it’s good to go. Unfortunately this toy does not come with a bag for storage, so if you’re careful with the box that it comes packaged in you can continue to store it in there or purchase a separate bag or case for it.
The Kaya Rabbit Vibe retails for $89 and can be purchased directly from the PicoBong website.
I received the PicoBong Kaya Rabbit Vibe for review. No other compensation was received, and opinions are my own.
Great post very detailed! I actually used to work in a store that sold the Lelo line their products are awesome. I love the rechargeable line so much. This new line is pretty interesting for the price point I would probably shell out the extra for the better battery tho. It is really good tho that they are making high quality toys on the affordable side!
I read these words “This post is adult in nature and therefore only intended for a mature audience” and immediately opened this post. haha.
What a review!
I don’t know brands, but I do like a good toy.
Great post Holly. Like you, Lelo Ina is still my favourite rabbit. Not only it feels awesome, I’m also saving on batteries and mercury to the environment 🙂
