Relieve Muscle Aches and Pains with LELO Smart Wands — Review

LELO Smart Wand

As of late, my fiance and I have been keeping opposite sleeping schedules. It isn’t that we don’t enjoy all of those warm and fuzzy feelings of connectedness while laying in bed together, because we very much do, but that is precisely where those warm and fuzzy feelings end. We both have the luxury of being able to work from home. My fiance works more clearly and productively during the night and typically sleeps during the day. I used to be very much the same way and thought that the work I was getting done in the middle of the night was awesome. However, after waking up very early in the morning for a few weeks straight and working throughout the day, I found that I actually work better during daytime hours. It is because of this that we now predominantly operate on different schedules. But that’s okay, because when we do sleep in the same bed at the same time, we are both woken up several times by each other, cursing the other under our breath until we both wake up and can complain to each other, sometimes loudly.

Turns out that neither of us are very accommodating bedfellows. I am a bed hog and insist on covering myself with every last inch of the three heavy blankets on our bed; while this is going on, my fiance violently tosses and turns, steals pillows just to knock them off the bed and then steal more, and he sleeps with his arms folded, his elbows left embedded in my back for hours. As you can probably imagine, I have woken up on multiple occasions with back and neck pain so bad that even the most subtle of movements would make me want to scream.

Turns out that when you walk around begging your fiance for a neck and back rub because they did this to you and it is all their fault, they’re not very inclined help you relieve your pain. This exact scenario is what played out just a day before I received the LELO Smart Wand, a full-body wand massager that relieves muscle aches and pains while providing numerous additional health benefits, besides just making your body feel normal again.

The LELO Smart Wand made its debut at the 2012 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Not very long after its debut, it was shortlisted for the 2012 Good Design Award, which makes total sense because the LELO Smart Wand is awe-inspiring in its beauty. Seriously, it is absolutely stunning; when I first opened the long white box it came in and saw it sitting perfectly in the velvety cutout form, I gasped. That is how impressed I was when I first laid eyes on it.

LELO developed their smart wand to help people alleviate aches and pains while relaxing muscle tissue and offering a host of other benefits with the knowledge that people are different and require different sensations and intensity. For this reason, the Smart Wand is available in two different sizes–medium and large–and in three color options–black, plum, and ivory. I received the large ivory Smart Wand which I expected to be large, as in larger than most standard massagers I have experienced. This massager, however, takes large to a whole new level, measuring in at approximately 12 inches in length, and the rounded head measuring in at 2.35 inches long with a circumference of 7.5 inches.

For how large it is, I was expecting it to be unwieldy and heavy enough to become annoying or quickly exhaust my arm; surprisingly, it is actually light and easy to handle, even after using it for long periods of time. What makes it so easy to use is the gorgeous, metal accented curved handle that rests easily in your grasp and allows you to massage hard-to-reach areas, say, in your back for instance, while maintaining complete control the entire time.

LELO Smart Wand controls

There are three buttons in the center of the LELO Smart Wand’s handle, embedded under the same body-safe silicone that makes up the rest of the massager (with the exception of the metal featured on the handle.) There is a plus button that is used to turn the wand massager on and increase the intensity of the vibrations, a minus button used to decrease the intensity of the vibrations and ultimately turn it is, and the center button is used to cycle through the eight unique massage patterns, beginning with a straightforward vibration and cycling through a series of pulsations and escalations.

What makes the LELO Smart Wand unlike any other body massager on the market today, is its innovative SenseTouch technology, which activates when the tip of the wand comes into contact with the skin. Automatically, it responds to the movements made by the user, and delivers customized, high-power vibrations that are meant to mimic the techniques you would experience during a professional massage.

The LELO Smart Wand feels amazing while massaging away muscle aches and pains. I have used it predominantly on my back and shoulders and it has worked a lot better (and faster!) to alleviate pain that I have experienced both from sleeping with my restless fiance and working from home in front of a computer day in and day out, than the hot and cold compresses I have used in the past.

In addition to alleviating muscle pain and minimizing muscle stress, the LELO Smart Wand also promotes circulation, relaxes muscle tissue, and increases flexibility. This luxury body massager is sleek, absolutely beautiful, has a whole host of health benefits, is also waterproof, cordless, and rechargeable. LELO is known for its luxury and innovation that is seen in both their body massagers and lines of elegant and incredible sex toys; in fact, they are responsible for some of my absolute favorite products–the Smart Wand, of which, can now join that ever-growing list.

I received the LELO Smart Wand for review. No other compensation was received, and opinions are my own.

  1. I’ll have to save up some money maybe. My mattress is starting to get crappy and i’m waking up with moderate pain and stiffness across my shoulders and upper back. This sounds like it actually does its intended purpose. I’ve tried other “massagers” for actual muscle massage for pain and tension – only to find out they weren’t good for anything other then a lack-luster sex toy. As of right now i do have the fortune of going to a school with a on-campus massage therapy clinic ( and a hefty student discount ). But even at a discount, bi weekly or even monthly massages cost money. This sounds like it might be a worth while investment.

Thanks for another great review Holly! : )
