If you live in or around Texas, or have thought of planning a destination vacation somewhere bursting with culture, entertainment, and fun for the whole family, this summer just may be the time to stop thinking of the "maybe somedays" and finally plan that getaway that everyone will love, in San Antonio. The biggest obstacle that prevents many families from planning that adventurous vacation of their dreams is the state of their finances, and not wanting to break the bank in order to have a great time. A family vacation can get expensive very quickly, so it's great to know that San Antonio is known to be one of the nation's most affordable vacation destinations. What's even more exciting, and easily makes San Antonio that much more of a realistic destination, is the fact that the city is making summer getaways even more value-packed with SAVE – San Antonio Vacation Experience.

The San Antonio Vacation Experience was designed in order to help more people see, explore, and experience the city of San Antonio, while saving money on practically everything that goes into creating a memorable and exciting vacation–more than $600 in deals, as a matter of fact. From hotels and resorts, themeparks, waterparks, and animal adventures, to museums, historic tours, and top shopping spots, there are plenty of deals available for people just like you who are looking to plan a vacation that the whole family will remember throughout their lives, while saving as much money as possible in the process.

There is so much to see and do in San Antonio that after looking through the SAVE website and perusing the deals that are available, I could easily plan several vacations.

Summers are incredibly hot in Texas, giving you every reason to plan a trip to a waterpark. Schlitterbahn Waterpark recently introduced The Falls, the world's longest waterpark ride at 3,600 feet of continuous rapids. With SAVE, your family can save up to $10 on your visit. Another waterpark favorite is Splashtown, a park with over 50 rides and attractions, concerts, and "Dive In Movie" nights for families, where you can enjoy family-friendly movies while hanging out in the Splashtown wave pool, with a SAVE discount of up to $42.

When I was a kid, my father would plan at least one day at a themepark for our family. If I were to visit San Antonio, I would love to keep up with that family ritual I grew up with and visit Six Flags Fiesta Texas, which houses over 50 rides and attractions, including a whopping eight different roller coasters. New at the park is the SkyScreamer, a swing ride that provides aerial views that surpass the park's quarry walls. There are multiple SAVE discounts available for Six Flags Fiesta Texas, including adults pay kids price, buy an adult ticket and get a child's free, second day free tickets, and more.

I have never been to a zoo before in my life, but I have always wanted to visit one. The San Antonio Vacation Experience can give families visiting the San Antonio Zoo $2 off admission while families experience the many plans and animals that call the zoo home. The San Antonio Zoo also has an amazing Safari, and their Africa Live! exhibit has exotic exhibits and even an African street market.

Also $2 off admission, the Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch has animals from all over the world, including zebras, wildebeest, giraffes, rhinos, and more! I absolutely love animals, and would really enjoy seeing all that animal life in one place. It really does sound like an incredible experience.

When it comes to where to stay, the list of hotels in San Antonio is vast. When it comes to choosing a hotel, it's important to remember (at least to me), that you will be on vacation and spending most of your time away from your hotel room. While you do want to choose a hotel that you are comfortable in, if you're on a budget, you do not want to choose one that has a list a mile long of lavish amenities, which drastically raise the price per night compared to other, more basic accommodations.

The Crockett Hotel is located just 18 steps from the Alamo, and a block away from the River Walk and Rivercenter Mall. It's a great hotel for families, is a member of the Historic Hotels of America, and SAVE rates start at just $79 per night.

If you're looking for a hotel just a little more extravagant in the same location as the last, there's the Hyatt Regency San Antonio on the Riverwalk. This hotel directly overlooks the historic Alamo, and has a spa and series of shops on-site. SAVE rates for this hotel start at $111.75 per night.

There is so much to see and do in San Antonio, and the San Antonio Vacation Experience just makes the city even more appealing. If you're in or around the San Antonio area, you will definitely want to follow @SAVEinSA on Twitter for updates on deals, Limited Time Offers, and helpful tips and ideas for planning your next visit.
