What is the reason I should keep my baby away from soft surfaces such as sofa, pillows, blankets, comforters, bumper pads, sheepskins, positioners etc? Is there any specific reason?

Babies can kick blankets up onto their faces when they squirm, but by dressing them in a sleep sack you're negating that risk altogether. Natural fabrics such as merino or cotton etc are better than manmade polyester or poly blends as they will naturally regulate your baby’s temperature, keeping him cool in warm weather and warm in colder temperatures. After trying a couple of different brands, my favorite is definitely the Merino Kids <a href="http://www.babysleepbags.com" rel="nofollow">sleepsack because I've found that polyester and other manmade fabrics just don't cut it.
Thanks for publishing these great tips. Awareness of SIDS and how to keep our baby safe will hopefully lead to a decrease in the mortality rate.
