As any Lady Gaga fanatic knows, the essence that is Lady Gaga is not seen in merely her trendsetting and jaw-dropping clothing; what truly completes a Lady Gaga look is the accessories. Lady Gaga wigs can also be purchased to complete your costume in a variety of different Lady Gaga identities–her signature curly blonde hair, a blonde hair-like bow clip and a soda can wig.
Will you attempt to pull off a Lady Gaga-inspired costume this Halloween?
Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston have been on quite the rocky road through the years. When it was first announced that Bristol was pregnant, the word on the street was that she would be marrying her child’s father, Levi Johnston. That engage was called off, they went their separate ways–Levi vying for fame on his own and Bristol preaching about abstinence–and then they were back together and shopping for a reality show about parenting and then they weren’t together anymore and Levi, still the little famewhore that he is, announced he was going to get to Hollywood by running for Mayor of Wasilla and have a reality television crew follow him on his path.
In most recent news about the parents of Tripp, Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston have finally reached a settlement in their custody case. According to the settlement, which was filed in an Alaska Superior Court, Bristol will get primary physical custody of Tripp and Levi will have visitation rights from 9AM to 4PM on Saturdays and 12PM to 6PM on Wednesdays. Levi has also been ordered to pay Bristol child support and although the sum of money was not stated, the agreement says the calculation is based on Levi’s earnings of $72,000 per year.
There is also a clause in the settlement stating that the parties are not to “speak badly about the other parent in front of the child … or allow anyone else to speak badly about the other parent or members of their family in front of the child.”
While the clause is important since I suppose these people are incapable of acting like civilized adults considering they are not yet fully matured as adults should be before having a child. I vote for this clause to be renamed the “Assume responsibility for your actions and act like a human being” clause, but that’s just me.
Now the next portion I have a little bit of a problem with. It goes on to state “The parties agree that they shall not allow the child to visit with, or interact with, any family member who publicly … or in front of the child, criticizes the other parent or the other parent’s family.
I have an inkling this clause was made up by Sarah Palin, since she is almost at the forefront, according to recent political surveys, of the GOP 2010 presidential candidates. She’s undoubtedly going to go for it and there is already quite the feud between the Palin family and the Johnston family; just take a look at Mercede Johnston’s blog that keeps getting more and more heated with rumors about how Bristol is insisting that Levi not speak to his family and never let them see his own son. This is a clause that I believe was written in order to keep a nice thumb over Levi and not allow the other side of Tripp’s family to see him so the Palins can flex their power a little more.
Of course, this is all up to interpretation and it is my sincerest wish that these two people can learn to exist and parent their child in a calm, mature and friendly way. I think Bristol will need to separate herself from the influence of her mother first in order for that to happen, though.
Bill O’Reilly recently attacked Jennifer Aniston because of her new movie The Switch, about a single woman deciding to have a baby using a sperm donor and not with a man who would be a father to her child. While promoting the movie, Jennifer Aniston commented on the movie’s premise, saying:
“Women are realizing more and more that you don’t have to settle, they don’t have to fiddle with a man to have that child. They are realizing if it’s that time in their life and they want this part they can do it with or without that.”
Many have been commenting on what the movie is really saying about society, but this commentary goes back as far as when other movies of the same type came out; movies like like Baby Mama and Miss Conception. But one person in particular had quite the negative reaction to Aniston’s comments about women having children without fathers being in the picture; and that person is none other than Bill O’Reilly.
O’Reilly is under the impression that Jennifer Aniston is some gigantic role model amongst children and commented saying, “She’s throwing a message out to 12-year-olds and 13-year-olds that, ‘Hey you don’t need a guy. You don’t need a dad.’ That is destructive to our society.”
When I heard about this comment, the first thing I thought of was “Why would 12 and 13-year olds need a guy in the first place? At that age, you kind of want them to stay far, far away from guys”, but perhaps he just meant that Jennifer Aniston is out there saying that kids don’t need any kind of male figures in their lives whatsoever. Even so, that’s a pretty big slip up on O’Reilly’s part. Secondly, what 12 and 13-year-olds know who Jennifer Aniston is or what she is doing or what movies she is in? I really don’t think they care much about Jennifer Aniston and I was assured in my thought about this when Beth Feldman of Role Mommy came out and said the same thing.
But let’s get down to the real point of this topic–Do children of single mothers suffer more than if they were brought up in a household with a father present?
“The traditional family that we have always known as mom, dad and two kids is no longer the traditional family. … Children of single parents do just as well as kids who have two parents. There’s nothing in the research that says having a baby by yourself is a terrible thing.”
Carl Pickhardt, a parenting expert and psychologist also commented on where Bill O’Reilly’s comments were coming from and what to take away from them, saying that while fathers are important in a child’s life, what it is even more important and downright crucial is “the quality of parental commitment to raising that child after it is born. … It is a prejudice that single parents — mostly moms — are deficient parents. In fact, they are among the strongest and most resourceful parents I see.”
Lindsay Lohan hasn’t been the topic of half as many media stories since she was released from jail and entered into the 90-day rehab treatment that came attached to her jail sentence. So how is she doing? What is she up to? Is she recovering and what has this whole process been like for her and her family?
Well, if you’ve been wondering about Lindsay Lohan lately, your concerns will be addressed tomorrow morning as Dina Lohan sits down for an exclusive interview to Matt Lauer on the Today Show.
This will be the first time Dina Lohan speaks out publicly about Lindsay’s incarceration and court-ordered rehab, although we have heard a lot of hot air coming out of Michael Lohan’s mouth from the day of Lindsay’s court hearing until recently.
In Chief U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker‘s 136-page opinion on Proposition 8, the ban on gay marriage in California, he stated that “Proposition 8 singles out gays and lesbians and legitimates their unequal treatment … Proposition 8 perpetuates the stereotype that gays and lesbians are incapable of forming long-term loving relationships and that gays and lesbians are not good parents.”
Since the Prop 8 constitutional amendment took effect, those within the GLBT community, as well as their allies, friends and families have been spreading the message that a state’s court system should protect the people’s Constitutional rights and finally, Judge Vaughn Walker heard them loud and clear yesterday when he ruled that Prop 8 was unconstitutional, finding that it violates the Constitution’s due process and equal protection clauses while failing “to advance any rational basis in singling out gay men and lesbians for denial of a marriage license.”
Judge Walker heard 13 days of testimony and arguments dating as far back as January during the first trial in federal court to examine if states can place a ban on gay marriage and prohibit same sex partners from marrying. This ruling is a victory for California and can potentially truly extend the same right and privilege of marriage that is currently being enjoyed by heterosexual couples, to all couples, regardless of their sexual orientation. Judge Walker’s ruling puts him at the forefront of the gay marriage debate and is only the latest high-profile legal decision accredited to the longtime Republican judge.
When the announcement that Prop 8 had been ruled unconstitutional, many celebrities, like Ellen DeGeneres, Kathy Griffin and Milla Jovovich, took to their Twitter accounts to announce their excitement about the ruling.
Just one year after filling Paula Abdul’s vacant seat on the American Idol judges panel, Ellen DeGeneres has decided to leave the show, saying that it was not “the right fit” for her.
She had brought her concern of not being the right person to be judging the American Idol hopefuls to Fox and the show’s producers a couple months ago, but said she would hold off on doing anything until they were able to find someone to fill her seat. Understandably, DeGeneres said that having her daytime talk show and then judging the nationwide singing competition made her work schedule more than she bargained for.
DeGeneres commented on her decision, saying:
“I also realized this season that while I love discovering, supporting and nurturing young talent, it was hard for me to judge people and sometimes hurt their feelings. I loved the experience working on Idol and I am very grateful for the year I had, I am a huge fan of the show and will continue to be.”
With Ellen DeGeneres’ departure from the show, the team behind American Idol will not just have to find someone to fill her seat, but also Simon Cowell’s who announced he was leaving the show to concentrate on bringing The X Factor, a hit U.K. show, to the U.S.
There are a lot of rumors flying all over the place about American Idol; one in particular is that Steven Tyler will replace Cowell, which could be really interesting.
Hopefully they find two really great new judges because without having people on the panel who people actually want to see and hear from, American Idol could plummet more than it already has throughout the past few seasons.
Bob Barker was stopped by paparazzi while walking down the street yesterday, yes apparently the paparazzi think they’re going to get a huge scandalous story out of an elderly man known for his years on a game show. A legendary game show of course, bnt still, a game show.
When asked about what he thinks of current host of Price is Right Drew Carey, Bob Barker said that Drew fails to add any “excitement” to it.
Barker’s statement, as expected, made the rounds on every celebrity gossip and entertainment website on the internet and got so much attention that Bob Barker felt the need to clarify his statement with EW.com, saying:
“I would not criticize Drew Carey. I would not criticize this show. I would not criticize CBS. I would not criticize FremantleMedia (which produces the show for the network) because I have a sizable royalty that I am paid every year this show is on, and it’s going on for years. I would be an absolute fool. I hope this show stays on for years. As for Drew, he’s been charming and complimentary, and he had me on the show to plug my book Priceless Memories. He devoted half of the show to me! He’s a charming man, and kind and gracious. To think that I would say anything derogatory about him is idiocy.”
Hm. Seems like a good amount of back peddling to me, but hopefully Drew Carey isn’t too offended by Barker’s statements, given Barker is pretty old and fragile and probably can’t handle a fight. (Yes, that was sarcasm.)
Sheriff’s officials said that Lindsay Lohan was treated just like any other inmate who entered the Lynwood Correctional Facility. If that’s true, the strip search Lindsay endured upon entering the correctional facility could help to win a recent class action lawsuit that has been filed claiming unlawful strip and body cavity searches conducted by L.A. County Sheriff’s deputies.
An unnamed female inmate claimed that other inmates, including herself, “are strip searched in plain view of each other in a parking lot that is neither private nor sanitary.”
Attorneys for the plaintiffs filed a request in Federal Court yesterday to take a deposition from Lindsay Lohan while she’s staying at the Lynwood Correctional Facility. A letter has also been sent to Lindsay’s attorney Shawn Chapman Holley asking if Lindsay would agree to speak with them and give a deposition, but their letter has not yet been returned.
Within just the past year, it seems as if we have experienced more severe weather and natural disasters than anyone can remember happening over the past decade. Also, more now than ever before, you cannot predict where severe weather will strike because the weather isn’t making much sense as of late. I live in Northeastern, Pennsylvania and just last week we had two tornado warnings and an actual tornado. That doesn’t happen in Northeastern, Pennsylvania; it has been pretty unheard of, but last week there it was, all over the news with headlines practically jumping off the page about how tornadoes do not happen here and yet, there it was.
It’s important to remember now that natural disasters can affect you wherever you live and it’s important to make sure you’re prepared if you are affected. That is what PLAN!T NOW hopes to help people do. Their mission statement:
“PLAN!T NOW advocates the empowerment of people through information and connection, and creates dialogue between people living in hurricane- and severe storm-affected areas and those who prepare coastal regions of the United States, Mexico and the Caribbean to withstand those storms. Operating with the understanding that no matter where you live, a natural disaster can happen at any time, PLAN!T NOW advocates the power of preparedness.”
Morgan Freeman, whom has come to be called The Great Narrator of Everything in this house, has recently been worked in coordination with PLAN!T NOW to help educate people on how to be better prepared when faced with the threat of hurricanes and tornadoes and how preparedness could help save us from untimely death and terrible destruction. He recently filmed a CNN video to raise awareness about being prepared for severe weather, a video that is incredibly timely as the threat of Tropical Storm Bonnie, what is now being called a Tropical Depression, targets to affect the Gulf Coast and could trigger an immense amount of damage.
Check out Morgan Freeman’s short video below and visit PLAN!T NOW to learn how to prepare yourself for natural disasters and how to support their cause.
Lady Gaga is a huge fan of tea. She is a big time tea drinker, having been seen countless times walking from her car to a building surrounded by her entourage with tea cup and saucer in hand and also sipping from a tea cup during interviews. With all of the publicity Lady Gaga has been giving tea, someone should probably put her face on it already. Well, that’s exactly what several tea companies have been thinking!
Lady Gaga has been pitched by a myriad of tea companies, but the company in the front running for acquiring Lady Gaga as a brand ambassador is Twinings. (Look, they’re already getting publicity just by being in discussions with Lady Gaga. It’s already paying off!)
Twinings was started in 1706 when they first started selling fine teas in England. They have grown over the past 300 years to selling more than 200 teas in more than 100 countries.
Twinings has made Lady Gaga a multi-million-pound offer to be the face of their specialist teas and they also have plans of launching a new tea with her face on it with a name like The Taste of Gaga. The Twinings tasters are coming up with a tea with an oriental flavor with the hope of marketing the tea to a younger generation, particularly in America, since Lady Gaga is said to be making drinking tea cool again.
This is actually a pretty cool idea and a good endorsement idea for Lady Gaga. I’m not sure about the name “The Taste of Gaga” just because it’s kind of, well, weird, but if they re-work the name a bit, it could work out very well for both Lady Gaga and Twinings, or whatever tea company that wins her over.
