When you run a blog, there are lots of ways to reach out to people who may find your content interesting, entertaining, or helpful; to connect with people; and to even grow your personal network of blogging buddies that you can go to for advice or know-how in the blogging world. Some of my closest friends who I talk to the most often are people I met through the blogs I have run and written for over the past several years. The biggest tool you can utilize to propel your blog forward is social media, and the biggest platform is definitely Facebook. Even my grandmother has a Facebook account, and she actually keeps up with my blog through there because I think she forgets that Woman Tribune is its own website that doesn’t exist solely on Facebook.
However, after you’ve set up a page for your blog on Facebook, you must jump over another hurdle–getting people to follow you and interact with you. It isn’t as easy as it may seem, especially when you start comparing yourself to other bloggers who racked up 18,000 likes and have thousands of people sharing their links and statuses. That is some amazing Facebook interaction, and it takes a while to get there. After a while, you tend to look at Facebook likes in terms of milestones; you hit one, get exceptionally proud of yourself, and immediately start working on the next.
