Yesterday turned out to be a very exciting day. After about five days of playing a very cruel waiting game that naturally, felt like an eternity, a book I ordered finally arrived — Someday, Someday, Maybe by Lauren Graham.
While I have always been the type of person who gets very excited by books in general, in order to really understand the specific type of glee I exhibited immediately after this book arrived, you must know something about me first. When it comes to Gilmore Girls enthusiasts, I am one of the more exuberant and prideful out there. I am not ashamed nor humble about it, either, which you have probably already taken note of.
Lauren Graham as Lorelai Gilmore was my first introduction to her; 13 years ago, a month before my 14th birthday, and I adored her throughout the seven years Gilmore Girls was on the air. Of course, Lauren Graham has also been playing Sarah Braverman in Parenthood since 2010 and she is fantastic in that as well, but nothing will top Gilmore Girls, at least for me, possibly ever.
I am so excited to start reading Someday, Someday, Maybe. It took me maybe five minutes to open the box it came in, take a picture of it, and post it on Facebook and Twitter with accompanying fan girl squeeing. The only thing that has stopped me from starting to read it is I want to make sure I have enough time carved out to really sit down and enjoy it without worrying about the hundred other things my brain is telling me are more important than reading this entire book in one sitting. I know this is likely to happen because this book has already been called by the Television Gods.
The CW (the same network that Gilmore Girls aired on) has picked up the script for the adaptation of the book for a series. The show is currently titled Unfamous, which Lauren Graham talked about in the Nerdist Podcast she appeared on two weeks ago. So exciting. So, so exciting.
