Thank You Very Much, Carrie Bradshaw

Many people have and will continue to blame fictional Sex And The City character Carrie Bradshaw for women’s obsession with shoes. While its easy to blame the mainstream media for many things, especially consumerism, Sex And The City did not give women something to obsess about, it gave women the permission to indulge. For too many years, women have been told that the only thing they should be concerned about is their biological clock and what the HBO show did, especially coming out at the time it did, was tell women that there is no shame in looking out for yourself and while you’re at it, putting a little sparkle in your life–coming in the form of fashion. While the show does drop a lot of labels and put many women in awe over the fact that perhaps they will never be able to afford the Manolo Blahnik strappy sandal or the Dolce&Gabbana fuzzy heel, while recently watching the bonus features on the movie DVD, a point that is driven home again and again is that no matter what the cost, whether you picked it up at a thrift or outlet store or a on website, good fashion is good fashion and if it looks good, no other factors need to be taken into consideration.

Through six seasons, one movie and another on the way, Sex And The City has succeeded in giving women of any age the permission to love fashion. While the series (and their characters) have been scrutinized again and again for so many things, the only thing that I find myself thinking is why did women need the permission and validation to indulge in their femininity in the first place? What is wrong about liking skirts, dresses, cosmetics and heels while also equally loving pantsuits, pajamas, loafers, sneakers and slippers? What is wrong with being a woman?

While I could “blame” my love for shoes on consumerism and capitalist America screaming ‘spend, spend, spend’ at the top of its lungs, I would much rather just enjoy my femininity and everything it involves; including shoes.

sexy shoes These delightfully sexy shoes arrived at my door a few days ago and immediately, they were on my feet. If you’re a woman who has had a multitude of different heels on her feet, you know that when it comes to high heels, not all shoes are created equal. Some are difficult to walk in, some constrain your feet to such a degree that by the end of the day your toes are purple and the only thing you want is a long foot rub. Some chunkier-heeled shoes make you feel like you’re lugging around ten extra pounds all day and some slimmer-heeled shoes make you feel as if you’re balancing just by walking across the room.

Firstly, the picture to the right does not do these shoes justice in the least. The true color of these shoes is vibrant and the decorative jewels are majestic and thrilling that makes it so easy to accompany a duller outfit; think jeans and a white T-shirt, but instead of mindlessly throwing on some tennis shoes or maryjanes, you can really top off that outfit and make it extraordinary just by wearing the right shoe. And the right shoe is right here.

While the width of the heel may put you off, especially if you’re used to walking in wider heels, these are the perfect upgrade to the slimmer and, in my opinion, sexier shoe. I could not believe how easy it was to walk in these; no balancing act necessary. The one factor of these heels that I thought I was going to have a problem with was the jeweled front. However, I wore these heels for an entire day and walked a fair amount during that day with no problems at all. The trick is that the backside of the jewels have a clear protector, protecting the front of your foot from rubbing up against the rhinestones; and if you’re worried that someone will notice the clear backing, trust me, they won’t because I didn’t even know why my feet were that bothered by them until I inspected the inside of the shoe.

These sexy shoes are comfortable and completely fabulous guaranteed to compliment any outfit as well as make you look and feel very sexy no matter what you’re wearing or where you’re going.
